• Controlling 2 computers at the same time with 1 keyboard and mouse

Is there any software that i can get that will allow me to simultaniously control 2 computers with one keyboard and mouse. Eg. i type "hello" into notepad and it shows up on both pc screens. I click close on the notepad window (assuming they are in the same position on both computers) the window closes on both pc's. Anyone know of a solution? [editline]03:39PM[/editline] Will either of these work? As far as I am aware no. Synergy wouldn't work because it puts screens next to each other, not on top of each other like you want. Also all the RDP/VNC software has been the same, control one computer at a time. What exactly are you wanting to accomplish? There may be another way.
So you mean the same data will be mirrored to the PCs? I mean if you press for example Q a Q signal will be sent to both

While I can't speak from experience, I've heard great things about Synergy. http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ It's got support for all 3 branches of major OSes, and it does exactly what you need it to. [editline]11:17PM[/editline] Why not give me bad reading? Clocks seem a little harsh.

Try a so called KVM Switch.
no
ok
Ah, sorry. Your best bet is to splice the cables and run two new USB cords to each computer. A keyboard would work, but I'm not sure how well a mouse would fair after such a hack, though.
get some resistors boy no dont do that I'm sure it won't work anyway.
Or i can just splice the data lines and leave the power lines connected to only one computer.
Or i can just splice the data lines and leave the power lines connected to only one computer.
This. It's what I was trying to get at in my previous post. Sorry if it was unclear.
This. It's what I was trying to get at in my previous post. Sorry if it was unclear.
Still don't think it would work though.
Still don't think it would work though.
Worked with my xbox controller, I don't know what to tell you. I don't think anyone's ever found themselves in a situation like this enough times to warrant designing a piece of hardware for it.
Can you explain to us why you're trying to do this? There might be an easy solution that we're overlooking because we don't know what you want to do.

would be good for testing the performance of 2 machines and being able to compare them side by side.
Yeah this would be a great benchmarking tool, especially if you can do it on more than 2 pcs.
Yes exactly. Maybe there is a hardware hack i cound do on a keyboard or something.
KVM switch?
But if not, this should do what you want: http://code.google.com/p/multibox/ Guide on using it: http://michaelellerbeck.com/2009/05/19/how-to-mirror-output-to-control-two-computers-or-more-with-a-single-mouse-and-keyboard/
Perfect, thanks so much!
