Why bring a crowbar and wrench? You will get knicked for carrying those.
not in russia...
I'm pretty new and haven't made a heavy investment in to urban exploration. I go pretty casual. Just leather gloves, a long sleeved hoodie, shoulder bag to carry a drink and camera and my iPhone since it can double a torch. I rarely go at night so a torch isn't a essential and I've never done urban exploration underground. I might buy some Valved masks since they're pretty cheap. That is if I can find any good places to explore.

Actually, if you you are caught trespassing with a crowbar, knife, wrench, lockpick, or any other object or tool that can be deemed an accessory to burglary, B&E, or vandalism, you can be arrested and charged with intent whether or not you went in to steal or break anything. At least, that's generally the case in the U.S. and Canada. Note that there isn't a list of things that the law uses to discriminate whether or not they can be used to commit a crime, so if you have your doubts as to whether or not you could get into (more) trouble for possessing a certain item while trespassing, it's probably best to leave it. Items used for prying, cutting, chopping, or smashing are best left alone, as well as large, heavy objects such as those big maglites that cops carry around in place of batons. Weapons, especially knives and guns, should be left behind whether or not you feel the need to protect yourself while trespassing, although there may be some form of leniency if you are caught with way-less-than-lethal self defense weapons such as pocket-sized pepper spray. Swiss army knives and light multi-tools should be okay, unless the cop is a dick. If you're willing and ready to face the consequences of being caught with a coat full of knives, a crowbar, and your dad's glock while taking pictures of a derelict treehouse then by all means, take them with you, but I'd personally rather not go to jail for snapping a couple pictures of an abandoned building, although locked doors and barred windows can be very tempting.
Trespassing crowbar The Police only need to put two and two together. Even if the is a report of a robbery and they find you with a screwdriver in the UK if you have a crimnal record than can tie to robbery they can arrest you.
but don't forget that russian police is very different than other police in the world
Whatever you say. Just don't blame us when you inevitably get arrested for carrying it.

I always have my skateboard on me, I dont give a fuck how it looks. Its just what I love doing and I dont like leaving it at home and then wanting it later. Better than walking when the ground is smooth enough.

anyone know of NECESSARY safety equipment? I know this sounds wussy, but I want to convince my overprotective parents that i will be ready for urbexing at 17. Stuff i know i have to take: (all in a backpack) Some form of camera (fully charged, new batteries) a backup camera in case something happens to the first boots that can't be cut through with glass shards swiss army knife, or any other multiknife/tool thingamabobber a small stash of perishable food to be eaten on the beginning of the "journey" something not-perishable to eat later, like crackers (goldfish!) WATER- bottled, obviously a phone, obviously if the roof falls on top of my head chalk/charcoal/markers to mark my path multiple flashlights, even the kitty keychain that goes MEOW and glows blue light from it's eyes Is a gas mask a good idea? just bringing up all of this fuss because i spotted a small abandoned house on the side of a highway, all sorts of plants on top of it... I hope it is still standing in 4 years.
The only thing i took on my first urbex was a couple of mates and a bunch of glowsticks. Shit was rad
[QUOTE=Metherat;35295733]Is a gas mask a good idea? just bringing up all of this fuss because i spotted a small abandoned house on the side of a highway, all sorts of plants on top of it... Aside from that you shouldn't have to worry much about using them, especially if they're just concrete jungles, at least to my knowledge.
Bring baby wipes lol i didnt want to touch anything after walking around the factory, who knows what touched the handles on those doors/boxes/gates/ladders
-Flashlight -Those cool brass hammers that are about nine inches long and unscrew into a bunch of smaller screwdrivers but otherwise, looks like a small jewlers hammer. Also doubles as a SkyTrain Maintenance Key. Specialty tools include: -Another flashlight -$10 Sony handycam with nightshot (you know, for when a flashlight won't cut it) -Genuine SkyTrain Window Wiper Wrench Oh, and a camera if I can be assed.
I can't say I've been urbexing, but I guess if I was to go, I'd take... -Torch -Phone -Camera -Spare phone battery/spare torch batteries -Rope -Snacks -Water -Chalk Obviously combined with tough boots and warm clothes.
Flashlight Food (Canned Tuna & dried food rations (I have tons :P ) Water (and teabags) Knife ( 1 backup diver knife strapped to my ankle) Crow-bar (mini ones easily fit into a backpack) Phone Flares Cigarettes & lighter Fuel cells (handy for warmth & quick cooking as well as boiling water.) Potassium Permangenate (25G) (I'd recommend this to everyone as it makes a decent disinfectant in an emergency and is very portable, just mix with water until it is light pink.) And one thing that everyone should have is a decent pair of boots, be it steel cap toe or hiking boots, NEVER wear dress shoes or "sneakers" while urbexing. I learnt the hard way when I was younger, with a broken ankle :v:
