• Louisiana lawmakers propose prayer to stop oil disaster
(CNN) -- While cleanup crews and technical teams continue efforts to stop crude gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana lawmakers are proposing a different approach: prayer. State senators designated Sunday as a day for citizens to ask for God's help dealing with the oil disaster. "Thus far efforts made by mortals to try to solve the crisis have been to no avail," state Sen. Robert Adley said in a statement released after last week's unanimous vote for the day of prayer. "It is clearly time for a miracle for us." Read More...
Great. That'll solve it. Obligatory image:
Let them do that, if they don't want to help in person. That should not be done instead of "real" approaches to solve the issue. Why do they even need press coverage for that? If they wanna do that, fine. Is it just so you can say "See, prayer did it" when somebody finds a way to fix it?
If another rig exploded, my god, I would be in tears.
Is it just so you can say "See, prayer did it" when somebody finds a way to fix it?
Probably, like usual. "Hey, I fixed it!" "Good thing I prayed for you." :downs:
Yeah, their god didn't give a fuck about the millions of jews that died during the second world war, nor the priest who continue to rape children, nor the children in Africa dying from AIDS, but their god will help them stop oil from floating into the ocean.
Their God just fucking destroyed a Jesus statue with a lightning bolt, clearly he's pissed. And now they want him to fix their problems. Despite it all being lies, it's still stupidly illogical, even in a religious sense.
So god is standing around not helping because nobody has asked? Look, Christians, I know you are incapable of basic logic and all, but you could at least TRY and get on the logic train here.
:lol::lol: I love how stupid people can be sometimes. I'm not going to say christians because I'm pretty sure there's plenty of Christians that think this is retarded.
:lol::lol: I love how stupid people can be sometimes. Because you can't be a "good christian" or good person without announcing to the world how good you are.
So god is standing around not helping because nobody has asked? My fucking god... Retarded mudskippers. God wouldn't want you to sit their, and pray to him when your ruining his creation. Get your asses out of the fucking swamp, and stop begging for welfare you fucking freeloading cunts. Jesus Christ... I'm shocked the US Navy hasn't done anything yet. We've been able to man submarines down to the depths of Mariana Trench, but we can't cap a fucking oil well? Come on people...
@GunFox Screw you. Prove there's no God. Prove there's no logic in our beliefs. It has been proven by many scientists that the univers couldn't have been created without some form of intervention of some kind. Hence, a god exists. --Sorry, derailed-- Back to topic. I like the idea. We have taken separation of church and state and bastardised it to where we are nearly killing religion off all together. Praying got the constitution written in 13 weeks when they couldn't get a single word down for months. Prayer helped this country be created. Praying may just give these men, and maybe others, the wisdom and insight to fix this damned oil spill. I say they should go for it. --Dearil again-- And, @nullsquared, where do you get off bashing Christians? We acutally get things done. You damned Bhuddists, Muslims, Atheists, and wtfever else have ddone nothing to fix this. Go ask Allah or Bhuddah or Science to give you the intelligence and resources to clean this up and then we will talk. Christianity has done more than just wate time. Like I said to GunFox, we Christians created a country, wrote a governmental system in 13 weeks, and our prayer saved many men from being killed because God left a fog sitting to let George Washington and his men escape. How can anyone explain that? God's miracles are inexplicable. Another @GunFox God gave the Earth to man and Satan. He does NOT.....I don't know how to put it into words. I gues we have free will, and the Earth is man's. God will give people the wisdom, and help his children (yes you too) but not the planet becuase it is Satan's influence not his. He gives us the intelligence and ability to fix things and help others. The holocaust was satan's doing, noy God. God did not allow it to happen. He did, however, allow Hitler, the Nazi, and their supporters have their free will. Instead, we're going to play a different game! Prove to ME that you don't worship an evil god. EDIT: Here, I'll get you started: The holocaust was allowed to happen. EDIT2: Awww come back. :-(

So... When will church and state be separated?

All of that is the work of people.
@nullsquared, where do you get off bashing Christians? We acutally get things done.
This seems to be some kind of attention whoring too, like usually. Because you can't be a "good christian" or good person without announcing to the world how good you are.
Actually, I remember in Sunday school being shown the Bible passages explaining how a good Christian goes into his bedroom and shuts the door before he prays, while the naughty Pharisees go into a public place and begin wailing and crying to show off how pious they are. Being six, I didn't really question why we were then expected to go into a large Church and all pray en masse.
There's a saying on these parts these guys should know: "Help yourself and God helps you."

Got to love religion :allears:
Dr. Fishtastic makes a point. Show me some CREDIBLE proof God desn't exist. I've shown you at least one CREDEIBLE source that God exists.
This is beautifully ridiculous.
trolly bullshit biased arguement
Trolling is a art.
lol, I knew this was going to descend into silliness. Guys, I'm sorry but what we have here is a classic case of a few crazy people attention whoring. Not all christians are crazy in the same way that not all muslims are bombers, not all americans are obese cowboy gun nuts and what have you. Although what do you all care? You'll just keep mashing your fists against your keyboards anyway because OMG TEH RELIGINS ARE EBIL. In any case, said lawmakers have made asses of themselves to the world, and nothing will change as a result of it. Huzzah.
:v:
Lets not humor the troll, okay guys? :v:
If it brings people together, what's the problem?
Guys, this is about the oil spill. Lets not get into another religion discussion in the News forum. [editline]11:05AM[/editline]
I've shown you at least one CREDEIBLE source that God exists.
The credible source you've posted does not refer to a god or deity in the usual sense. It refers to a higher being of some sort - not an omnipotent, benevolent, etc. being that you have to worship. In fact, I myself even believe such a possibility is not too far fetched. Just as we can create weather simulations, biological simulations, etc., perhaps our whole universe is simply a simulation being run by some higher beings that we cannot comprehend.
