Xbox head Phil Spencer has been vocal recently about their commitment to Xbox and PC as a gaming platform. However, he recently made a comment that didn’t go down too well with Xbox ‘fanboys’. Phil revealed that one of his most awaited upcoming games was Naughty Dog developed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, a PS4 exclusive. This made one guy comment that Xbox should wave the white flag already rather than praising a competitor’s upcoming game. Spencer retorted with a remark that really shut him up.
Sources: FragHero
Let him enjoy and support whatever games he wants to enjoy. He's a person too. Console fanboys are very silly.
God, I remember being 12, but then I grew out of stupid game console tribalism.
Must be a slow day if you're going to write an article on a month old tweet.
I think we all wanted the X1 to fail after the disastrous reveal it had to show that we weren't going to stand for any of that shit. At least MS listened and got rid of all that
It's not really a new thing, I remember growing up with people in school arguing over why Dreamcast was better and blah blah blah. The "divisiveness" he's talking about is just more pronounced because of social media and the terribly shitty ways people behave on the internet.
I remember the console wars back on the 360 and PS3 days, it was ridiculous. Luckily, I had both consoles at the time, so I didn't complain.
Sorry to say that I still kinda want Microsoft to fail in the gaming space. The less people use DirectX and the more people use Vulkan, the better, and the easier it will become for gamers to switch over to Linux in the future.
i'd rather people complain about exclusives more than anything. having a great game only exclusive is fucking wack.
God, I remember being 12, but then I grew out of stupid game console tribalism.
Yeah, I mean, it's obvious when you grow up that no matter anything that goes, PC is still the best "console" around.
tell them to get a PC lmao
people complained about a game going non-exclusive lol
He has a half of a good point there. It is bullshit that Xbox users arbitrarily need to pay for basic online functionality that PC gamers have had for free for decades.
i'd rather people complain about exclusives more than anything. having a great game only exclusive is fucking wack.
Having a game be exclusive is in a lot of cases the only reason that game ever got to be created, due to publishing, funding and the likes. It'd be sad If Demon's Souls or Bayonetta 2 never came to be.
He has a half of a good point there. It is bullshit that Xbox users arbitrarily need to pay for basic online functionality that PC gamers have had for free for decades.
Not really. Servers cost quite a bit to maintain, especially with the number of people playing on consoles. Besides, 60 dollars ever 2 years really isn't that much. It's far less then something like PS+.

Sony went TO From to contract them to make Demons' Souls, looking for a developer that could make the PS3's answer to TESOblivion. It started development as an Oblivion clone, before Miyazaki took over and changed the course of development towards what we know it as now (Rather than the focus-tested Oblivion clone Sony wanted in the first place) - This, as well as Oblivion getting an official PS3 port are the reasons Sony backed out on localizing it when it was finally completed. It's a very different situation from Platinum having to go around shopping their projects to publishers hoping one will finally bite.
He has a half of a good point there. It really doesn't make sense to complain about any game not being exclusive unless it's complaining about bad ports.

But the contract was still pretty essential. It's obviously not the same situation as Platinum was in, but you get my point.

With as much money people pour into the online fees, the servers should NEVER go down.
This is why I'm happy I was never really a console fanboy. If I had the ability to I'd own every single platform I could get my hands on. For me it was NEVER about the console, it was about the great games they boasted and I know just about every platform has a list of classics and must-plays in their library. Sadly my love for gaming is limited by my available free time and income. I haven't gotten to own or play every console in existence but that won't stop me from recognizing their legacy and accomplishments. I think it's great we have competition in game development because, optimally, it makes everyone strive for bigger and better things. Hating a console, a company, or a person purely because they're supported by "the enemy" is just asinine.

This is 3 weeks old news and it was already reported. Look at the date on the tweet; March 1st 2016.
I think you mean "servers cost quite a bit to maintain when the multiplayer system forces users to use a company's servers rather than letting the community provide servers"
when has a community ever provided servers for consoles
He has a half of a good point there. It is bullshit that Xbox users arbitrarily need to pay for basic online functionality that PC gamers have had for free for decades.
Closed system vs open system. Xbox Live is a closed system that can't get online without going through Microsoft. They already tried to unify PC gaming under Games for Windows Live and all the forced subscription did was guarantee that games published under the title would fail, the platform is too open and competitive for anything like that to succeed. Only a few titles, mostly MMOs, manage to justify a subscription and get people to pay for it at a level to make it successful.
when has a community ever provided servers for consoles
That's his point. He's saying that by forcing everyone on to their servers, communities can't provide their own servers, and everyone's reliant on xbox servers, making it expensive, meaning we have to pay a bunch of money.
when has a community ever provided servers for consoles
Rainbow Six 3 on the Xbox (original xbox) allowed for dedicated servers.
Rainbow Six 3 on the Xbox (original xbox) allowed for dedicated servers.
that's not much of an example that's more like an outlier
that's not much of an example that's more like an outlier
Anyway a good example of how stupid a system like Xbox Live is SWAT 4. Great game. No servers and no way to purchase the game anymore. That shit is dumb.
He says it as if being a "real gamer" is something to be proud of. What does it even mean to be a real gamer as opposed to what, a fake gamer? Platform elitism is stupid but so is this whole gamer nonsense. First gamers are dead, then there are real gamers, please stop.
Yeah, I mean, it's obvious when you grow up that no matter anything that goes, PC is still the best "console" around.
Way to miss the whole point...

Platform elitism is stupid but so is this whole gamer nonsense. First gamers are dead, then there are real gamers, please stop.
There is nothing to be ashamed of, to call yourself a gamer. We don't scoff at movie buffs, foodies, sports freaks, or bookworms. People who have a major or primary interest in gaming should not be lowered or elevated above other hobbists. Also by "real gamer" he means "You're really not into video-gaming as a community and sub-culture if all you care about is shitting on other people for enjoying other games that you don't like on other systems you don't like". It is a symbolic statement and not meant to be taken 100% to heart or literally because it misses the entire point.
