I have been stumped for quite some time on how to put a password on my network. I have a linksys WRTG54G router. I was wondering how I would get to being able to put a password on my network to make it more secure and not just able for everyone to join. Thanks for your help.
I just googled and found this, http://www.ezinstructions.com/wrt54gsetup.html Can this help maybe?

Thank you very much, that worked. Guess I didn't search hard enough.
one thing make sure you set the security mode to "WPA2 personal" not just WPA personal and use TKIP+AES for the encryption mode

How come if I may ask? I don't really understand the networking names and lingo haha.
WPA2 is virtually uncrackable (it'd take about 5 years to bruteforce, compared to minutes for WEP. WPA1 is strong, but not super-strong). TKIP+AES is just more encryption on top of that.

Another question is should I upgrade the firmware on my router? If so where would I get the file to upgrade it with?
what version is your router? WRT54G's come in like 6 or 7 different versions look on the bottom of it and give me the version number or if theres no version number just give me the serial number
