This brilliant documentary covers media's roles in war since WW1.
The victor writes the history books.
These kinds of videos are sad.
This film brings up some interesting points, but I'm not sure it's entirely relevant.
If all you watch is the mainstream TV networks then I can completely understand why this film might come as a shock to you, but certainly most Facepunchers are cynical enough and worldly enough to know that the Iraq war was far more two sided than the impression Fox News gave.
It highlights some important flaws in the media's reporting of modern conflict, but in a time where it's possible to read about and see pictures of dead, mutilated children with little more warning than an NSFW link I'm not sure any of this is terribly important. The more discerning internet generation will slowly replace the TV generation, and this may render the mainstream news networks irrelevant anyway. Newspapers are already dying on their feet.
Also, the Hurt Locker was mentioned but Generation Kill wasn't. Generation Kill was both a strong condemnation of our troops' behaviour and a sympathetic view of their torment during the Iraq war. Almost nothing about their job there was glorified.
The videos from Felujah and much from the Iraq war shown here remind me of videos and documentaries from Russia's wars in Chechnya.
