my first time making a thread so.
anyone know how long it takes to get a response from a steam support ticket?
i've already changed all my passwords and whatnot.
and before anyone asks how it was stolen, i was an idiot and used the same password for the email/steam account.

my expert detective skills.
I used steam support not long ago, took 3-4 days.
Follow these instructions in order to get it back.

My request took less than a day.

best hacker 2k12
Dem trojans.
I don't understand how someone managed to hijack your account. Don't you use Steam Guard?
He said he used the same password for both his email and steam.
Damn, I hate hackers so much. Cashless bunch of idiots.
I still don't understand how he got his password. And how did he get his e-mail?
Probably entered his logins info into a dummy site.
"Hacker" gets on his emails, changes password. Gets on his Steam account by getting the Steam guard code in the email he just broke into, and changes both their password.
This thread actually made me change my Steam password to a tougher to crack one. Thanks, sadcreamcone!

yeah because his password was totally "cracked" and not at all phished because op was stupid enough to fall for it.
I've had mine 'hacked' several times, it's incredible how incompetent some steam-thieves are. One guy logged in on it, then logged out. Didn't even change password.
I had someone trying to log into my steam account last week. I found out who it was and he got a beating...
But i also chanegd my pasword
It took me a day for the Steam Support to recover my account back in 2008.

how do you even check if someone logged in and did nothing
Jesus.
Here is how to remember multiple passwords:

$12 a year
$1 a month
Fuck knows how I'd remember the passwords for my dozens of email accounts and steam accounts without this thing.

LastPass is a good idea if you're competent, but if you fall for phishing, this will just be handing your entire collection of passwords over to someone else.
just posting to say I retrieved my account.
took 3 days for them to respond and 2 more days to get my account back.
thanks again!
