THE professor charged with killing three of her colleagues, shot her brother more than 20 years ago, cops said. Harvard-educated neurobiologist, inventor and mother, Amy Bishop, was never charged with her brother's death, which was logged as an accidental shooting, Police Chief Paul Frazier said. This weekend Bishop was charged with capital murder after the shooting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, which means she could face the death penalty if convicted. Huntsville police chief Henry Reyes said Bishop, 45, was attending a faculty meeting on the third floor of the sciences building on Friday afternoon when she shot six colleagues, killing three. Bishop, a lecturer and researcher at the university, was arrested as she was leaving the building. She had just months left as a teacher at the university when police said she opened fire with a handgun in a room filled with a dozen of her colleagues. Bishop was due to leave after this semester because she had been denied tenure. Police said a 9 mm handgun was recovered from the second floor of the building. As she got into a police car, she said, "It didn't happen. There's no way. ... They are still alive." University spokesman Ray Garner said the three killed were Gopi K. Podila, the chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences, and two other faculty members, Maria Ragland Davis and Adriel Johnson. Two others are in critical condition, and a third who was wounded was upgraded to fair condition. The injured were identified as department members Luis Cruz-Vera and Joseph Leahy and staffer Stephanie Monticello. Bishop shot her brother, Seth, an 18-year-old accomplished violinist, in the chest in 1986, Mr Frazier said. The Norfolk County District Attorney's office released a 1987 report with details of their investigation, based on interviews with Amy Bishop and her parents conducted by a state trooper after the shooting. The report concluded Seth Bishop was killed by an "accidental discharge of a firearm."
Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2852802/Uni-shooter-killed-brother.html
Late. But 'they are still alive' You would think a university biology teacher could tell when someone is dead
Well at least we know why she's not teaching biology anymore, cant tell when a god damned heart stops.
She is getting the death Pen she is charged with Capital Murder
Sounds like she's been god damn mental for the past 30 years.
20 Years ago oh my.
"durr, heart r not makin dat funny sound wut it meen?" /caps
Oh great, now we have teachers shooting each other now. It was bad enough when students had guns. Shit never ends...
It'll be interesting to observe what they(Alabama) do to her. Imagine if it was a young, poor, single, minority guy from a 'nobody' family who shot his co-workers. Now that it's an educated, middle class, white married working mom from a family connected well enough she got away with killing her brother...let's just see how justice works.
