After 6 years of flute (don't ask, I was really young when I picked it) I'm finally about to start playing tenor sax. I'm so fucking hyped right now. This is what I'm going to play [thumb]http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/45620-artemis-tenor-saxophone-large.jpg[/thumb] Got it for free from a friend Any sax players on FP? Anything I should know?
I have played the alto sax for about 5 years, and i would recommend to join a jazz band as soon as you are good enough because jazz it the best thing to play on a sax.
You're so lucky you got it for free. I really miss my sax, I can't afford to get myself another one, I don't think I ever will be able to.

He's not exactly giving it to me to own, he's been abroad for 5 years and he just doesn't seem to care about it anymore.
Do you have a good microphone? Would be cool to have some flute/sax recorded for various tunes.
More reed = more sound
Neat, I bought one for 75 bucks today. Let's be learning buddies!:v:

I've been wanting to get a sax for a long time now..probably tenor. Is it a hard instrument to 'master'?
Well, like any instrument... yes. It isn't too hard to start playing and get the basics down. The fingering is super simple, and paying notes isn't too bad. It however is really hard to get a professional tone. The muscles it uses in your mouth take a lot of time to build up and you have to practice a lot.
