• Considering buying an older Motion M1400 Tablet PC, Would like advice

I've been looking for a mobile device for myself in and around the $200 USD mark. I've come across a rather unique option: purchasing a used Motion tablet from Ebay, specifically, this one. This tablet seems to offer pretty decent power (given it's 5 years old) for the price. It runs XP, and I know it can be made to run Windows 7. (though probably without Aero) It supports digitizer input, which is useful for writing/drawing (regular Windows 7 is kind of ass with fingers anyway), and seems capable as a browsing system short of my laptop, which is particularly heavy. I don't expect miracles out of it and have considered it in that aspect. I guess what I am really asking is: Is there anything better in that regard for the price? ($200) Before I spend, I wanna know if there is anything I don't realize, or anything better. I greatly appreciate any advice with my humblest of thanks.
Unless Windows 7 has the ability to support pen-only tablets I would stick with whatever is currently on it which would probably be XP Tablet 2005.

Either way, you should probably stick with XP on that unless you REALLY need Windows 7 on it. And your right OP, you can't use Aero. It uses an intel 855GME graphics chipset. If your just going to be using it for browsing/writing/drawing, I doubt you'll need anything from 7.
I know from seeing videos and using a drawing tablet (That is now missing, fucking postal service) that the pen support is quite good, but touch support is not. I have seen video of someone running vista on it. I'll stay with XP for the time being (I don't have an external USB optical drive anyway) I'm still wondering if that's a good price for the system, or if I should hold out for another seller or another device entirely.
Those older touchscreen tablets and laptops usually don't have WDDM (Vista+) drivers for the touchscreen, so you would have to use a mouse for a pointing device. Not to mention it would be painfully slow with the limited RAM and likely limited storage space.

However, your other points still stand. I've reconsidered a bit and shopped around, and am now looking at the HP TC4400, a convertable tablet avalible for near the same price, but with a Core 2 Duo and 1-2 GB of RAM. It seems a far better option even if it's a bit heavier.
