Cheryl Miller and Pamela Jackson were high school students when they disappeared May 29, 1971, while driving to a party at a gravel pit.
Shame it took them so long to find out.. The families must've thought they were kidnapped all these years, possibly even still being held.

It's been proven time and time again that when someone vanishes without a trace, 99.99% of the time you're never going to find them, or if you do, they're not going to be alive. It's best to expect that you won't ever see them again because every year of hope that you have of seeing them again is just more stress you put on yourself. Just my view on stuff like this.

That way, you can hold your mock-funeral without the body, have a party there, and then later be like "Oh dang, you were alive all this time? Cool, man. You should've been at your funeral though, grandma did a wicked kegstand!"
*sigh* The sad part about missing your own funeral.
Actually, I dunno about how it is outside of Denmark, but it's common here for Atheists to hold a 'nonfirmation' party at the age their religious peers hold confirmation parties. If I ever receive an invitation from someone to a 'nonfirmation' to celebrate that they haven't been confirmated or whatever the term is; I'm seriously gonna invite people to my nonfuneral, to celebrate I'm not dead and not getting buried.
Actually most missing-persons return pretty quickly. Usually they left home or ran away or something. That's what makes long-term cases so suspicious.

I know this is off topic but people are saying stuff that reminds me of this video.

If they were abducted, the body is normally found within 200ft of the murder site. People have to learn to call 911 immediately after their child vanishes. There is no 24hr rule. The sooner you call 911, the sooner officers get out looking.
That's only what they want you to think :tinfoil:

However, on-topic: Regardless if you think a missing person is dead or not, still having the uncertainty must be horrible. I hope this helped finally put this to rest, for the families that is.
