College Dieting: Meals you can make with just a microwave
15 replies, posted
I figured I'd make this thread to help college meatheads like me without access to a real kitchen make healthy meals. Also to get people to share their own.
Also I'm in the US/NY so some of this stuff might not be available in other countries/states
Heres some of my stuff:
Tyson Grilled & Ready frozen chicken breast
1 piece:
110 calories
21g protein
2g carbs
2g fat
0.5 saturated fat
1g monounsaturated fat
340mg sodium
Put em in the microwave for 1-2 mins they taste amazing and are healthy as fuck
You can also get these in diced form which makes it easier for salad and stuff like that but harder to keep track of how much you're eating without a measuring cup/kitchen scale
Tyson also has a shitload of other frozen pre-cooked stuff you can put in the microwave but since my school is in bumblefuck nowhere i'm lucky the grocery store even has these
10 minute success whole-grain brown rice
1 bag:
150 calories
4g protein
33g carbs
2g dietary fiber
0g sodium
Super easy just put a bag in a microwavable bowl with water and heat for 10 mins comes out nice and moist :q:
What i do is make a bag of this and heat up a couple pieces of tyson chicken boobs and mix em in a microwave-safe bowl. Takes about 12 minutes to make and when im done eating i just wash out the bowl and go lift cuz im a monster yeh

throw whatever you god damn like in it and go to class, when you come back you have dinner. Fits perfectly in a mini fridge too.
ive literally been eating peanut butter all day
tuna sandwiches are good and easy to make + protein

apples + peanut butter is good too
I really recommend not using the microwave for every meal. If you have access to cooking plate, make full use of it.

What are some good things to mix with the tuna?

I've mixed green/red/yellow peppers, red (or yellow) onions, celery, and even cucumbers.
Pretty much I like a good crunch with my tuna. Friends all make fun of me because they despise it... their loss.
Just Drink Olive Oil Its Like 1000 Calories In A Bottle

the possibilities are endless
(this of course depends on your college rules, some campuses only allow you a microwave. hotplates and panini presses and crockpots and stuff can be banned because theyre a firehazard)

Your college doesn't have kitchens in the dorm halls? What kind of college is that?
Just make some sandwiches and call it a day, those frozen meals have more chemicals in them than you need.
Also try eating nuts like almonds and peanuts, they are good sources of vitamins proteins and fats. And you can make trail mix out of them.
Reposting this from the gd thread:
Breakfast
1 cup of oats (10g)
Greek yogurt (11 g)
4 hard boiled eggs (24g)
Meal 2
Gold standard shake (24 g)
Lunch
Usually a turkey sandwich or chicken salad. (~20 g)
Dinner
1/2 lb ground turkey, usually in tacos or pasta (~40 g)
Meal 5 (after gym)
Gold standard shake (24 g)
This puts me at ~153g of protein a day. Sometimes I make a pizza or go to chipotle for dinner, then it's like ~170g.
