• Ubuntu Remote Desktop and VNC Viewer on Windows...

So today, I tried to make VNC work on Ubuntu... and it did! But the only problem is, the screen is frozen, and it won't do anything. But however, if I were to click on my Firefox icon, the firefox window won't show up on the VNC viewer, but it will pop-up on the laptop. And I need to get this working because on Friday my school decided to block all FTP connections, so I'm fucked if I need something off my laptop unless I can get VNC.
Wouldn't it just work if you set the ftp server on your linux computer to listen on, say, port 443? which is almost never blocked. I know it's not what you asked but give it a try.

Try different remote desktop software? [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] Or just use net2ftp.com to access it from school. [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] Or how about talking to the schools IT unit and asking them why they blocked ftp and ask them to undo it?

Fedora4lyfe
You can change it to Classic Ubuntu, but I like it either way :colbert: [editline]1st May 2011[/editline]
Or how about talking to the schools IT unit and asking them why they blocked ftp and ask them to undo it?
I tried that before (Asking them to unblock port 2082 for cPanel X (aka site software)) and they were like "NO ITS VIRUS".
let me guess. X11vnc on the ubuntu computer??
Tried that. Oh fuck that, I'm using Teamviewer :colbert:
Xrdp, that is all. Worked wonders on my old setup.
Xrdp, that is all. Worked wonders on my old setup.
Didn't work for me
Disable compositing. Although that'll probably break unity.
