Im thinking of upgrading to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, but not sure whether or not it will:

Delete my steam games (and local save data e.g. Borderlands)
Lag my computer to shit (like what happened on my old computer when i upgraded from XP to vista)
Be worth the money
I dont want to do a clean install. Would buying a SSD and installing Win7 on that mess up my Steam? Ultimate isn't entirely worth it IMO, so I'd just go to 7 HP [editline]07:49PM[/editline] you'll need to back up your steam folder 7 is better than Vista for resource use It should be worth the money.

Downgrade to XP...AGAIN! :mmmsmug:
Downgrade to XP...AGAIN! :mmmsmug:
Vista was better than that crap. :frown:
Nope :mmmsmug: i think vista was complete utter crap, mostly because it was a memory hog, and those compatibility issues
Nope :mmmsmug: i think vista was complete utter crap, mostly because it was a memory hog, and those compatibility issues
"Memory hog" = Superfetch, which is also included in Windows 7, and many compatibility issues that exist in Vista also exist in 7. Your logic is flawed.
7 is IMO the best Windows OS yet, and I have had few to no compability issues with it. I first had the beta, now running W7 Pro. That's over a year of experience.

7 is of course the best, I just hate people that think that XP is still magically better and that Vista was shit. Without Vista we wouldn't have 7.
Wrong. 2000 is and will always be the best version of Windows.
This. XP And 2000 just 'worked', they had a simple look which could be changed very easily, you can solve problems very easily, it's not simple to use [good thing imo] and most software worked, there is only one downside to XP, It doesnt show your system spceifications properly [editline]12:42PM[/editline]
Wrong. 2000 is and will always be the best version of Windows.
This.
Wrong. 2000 is and will always be the best version of Windows.
In your trollish opinion. No-one else (with any credibility) shares this opinion with you. Windows 2008 and 2008 r2 are the best windows server platforms so far by a clear country mile, for two reasons alone - server core and hyper-v. Not to mention the other 1000's of improvements over 2000. And windows 7 is by far the best desktop version of windows microsoft have ever released, the usability improvements over 2000 are probably in 1000's too. If you'd said xp it might've been interesting, but 2000 was too obviously a troll post.
Thanks Will start backing up my steam folder.. gonna take a looong time :/
Don't bother with that, unless you've got lots of custom models etc. Backup your main maps and Garrysmod addons. PHX3 and Wire can easily be found at Glua.net, wtihout using SVN. Unless you've got really bad broadband or DSL, just put your games on overnight and in the morning most of them should be done :)
I'm sure it will go faster backing it up than redownloading everything, so why not?
