been a year and a half facepunch, but i'm back. and would like your input on one thing.
Hi [REDACTED], [REDACTED] should go to the Valve main desk at 10900 NE 4th St #500 Bellevue, WA. I worked at the old offices so I don't know these. I believe the front desk person may give the tour or else ask for Yahn Bernier. Please arrive around 11;45 on Wednesday. I think it would work well if you could drop him off in case Yahn does the tour. Then you could confirm the link with Yahn that you know me, thanks for the favor, etc. I don't think you have to stay for the tour. I don't know how long it will be. I am confirming the final time with Yahn.
So yeah, a family member of mine knows someone who used to work at valve, pulled some strings, and got me in for a tour plus i get to pick the brain of some of the developers. i don't know if i will get to meet Gabe, and i don't know if they will allow me to take pictures, but i am giddy at the fact that this week in Seattle i get to visit the paradise of gaming. so i am forming a list of questions for some of the game developers there, and i have not not come up with much considering my criteria that there will be -NO EPISODE 3 QUESTIONS -No begging for free stuff - and No #3 related jokes its a matter of personal pride that i'm not going to get all super fanboy in their face and spew memes at everyone, i'm going as a sane individual, not a /v/irgin or /b/tard or 9fagger or leredditor or facepuncher. i will write down everything they answer with, and report back to you guys, just supply me with some insightful questions for them. stay classy gentlemen. [sp]also a big shoutout to my friend spython, best gaming serpent ever :3[/sp]
Can you ask what Gabe usually does a regular working day, seeing as the game developers they write code or make animations or models and such, but seeing as Gabe is one of the founders of valve I think that he isn't really doing a lot of that any more so I'm curious to what he actually does.

Does the tour include the snack bar?
Does the tour include the snack bar?
beets me
Ask how is the development of Ricochet 2 (because no ep3 questions)
You must bring a hat for their wall. It's like a pilgrimage.
Ask them for an after summer sale, and a mid summer-fall sale, and a fall sale and a sale on my birthday, oct. 1, where everything is basically free
Ask them what they do for fun around the office such as pranks, or jokes. And what do they do when they get tired working on one thing. Do they move to the next and revisit or tough it out? Writers block?
Ask Gabe whether or not they're still considering making Prospero; it's a project with SO MUCH POTENTIAL, and i'm sure none of us want to see it just remain vanished. I mean, the ideas borne from the development of that project influenced certain aspects of Valve's later games and even Steam itself, so I think it's only fair that Prospero becomes one of those massive amazing smash-hits of the decade, or at least an actual game.
make them roll more desks into the HL3 room
ok, development of Ricochet 2 progress, pranks or jokes around the office, work ethics and how they choose their system, whether they get writers block, and whether they are considering making prospero.
Ask them about the Loch 'n' Load.
Ask if you can get a baggie and help yourself to the snack bar, then just start shoving shit in your pockets, this shall awaken the GabeN, where you shall fight him to the death, if you win, you may take his little black book that holds all of the answers of eternity, and you may do what you wish with it.
Ask them about making The Ship or Bloody Good Time free to play. The community is so dead.
Ask if Valve keeps chat records of every single person who speaks to another on Steam.
Or better yet ask them how they track steam users and what kind of information is stored
Ask them about the Loch 'n' Load.
thats not very specific so development of Ricochet 2 progress, pranks or jokes around the office, work ethics and how they choose their system, whether they get writers block, whether they are considering making prospero, whether bloody good time will be made f2p, if they keept chat records from steam. gonna go to bed early and wake up early to check this thread before i go, formulate a list of all the questions. i will respond to this thread later in the day with the report, just let me know if you want me to make a new thread with pictures or not.
Ask if they've got anything planned that isn't related to Ricochet, the Half-Life universe, or Portal.
I've heard that they're snack bar is amazing. Go check it out. Also ask about the steam box.
I've heard that they're snack bar
Well, I guess this is why HL3 is taking so long
Ask them about their plans with Adult Swim (after all, that wasn't on the no-no list!)
You should record this stuff too, if they let you, and then show us, instead of just writing back. It's all that more exciting you know
Ask Gabe whether or not they're still considering making Prospero; it's a project with SO MUCH POTENTIAL, and i'm sure none of us want to see it just remain vanished. This, do it bro, you must. Also this gives me hope
in June 2006, Gabe Newell stated that he would like to resume work on Prospero after Team Fortress 2 was completed.[2]
Ask them what they think of the TF2 Emporium
Ask Gabe is he usually sits down and plays games and what not, or if he usually just works on shit.
If you see him, ask Gabe what he thinks of his status on the internet.
HL3 lololo u havs 2 ask bout it
Ask him what it feels like to play his "own" game, and if it makes it any more or less fun knowing he's created it.
Ask when the Greenlight system will be up and running
