Diablo III's Jay Wilson lashes out at series creator David Brevik, "Fuck that loser"
When you make a masterpiece that gamers love and enjoy, the one thing that usually follows that masterpiece around are fanboys and admirers. Diablo II has a lot of fanboys and admirers. Diablo III was made by a different group of people and abandoned a lot of what made Diablo II a masterpiece. So when the Diablo II designer, David Brevik, echos comments made by the community on why people dislike Diablo III, the lead designer of Diablo III, Jay Wilson, said to “Fuck that loser.”
Quick history lesson: Blizzard North designed Diablo I and Diablo II. They departed from Blizzard back in 2005 and eventually went to work onTorchlight. Blizzard South took over for development for Diablo III.
Now here's where things get ugly. In an interview with Inc Gamers, Diablo II designer David Brevik speaks his mind about the changes made to Diablo III, echoing the concerns of much of the fanbase.
[Blizzard South] made some decisions with the loot system that were very different than the way that we did it in Diablo 2 and I think that obviously the community has been upset with some of the decisions they made. Having all of your powers work off your main weapon and things like that, to having blues that are more powerful than yellows. Eventually the auction house and how that worked, even something as simple as when you equip an item and it’s bound to your character permanently would have totally changed the dynamic of the game.
The entire interview is superb. Absolutely superb. Brevik keeps it civil but poignant, making points and bringing out things that gamers have been complaining about and suggesting to Blizzard to fix on the forums since the release of Daiblo III.
Now check out this image of Facebook chatter from the Blizzard South facebook group.

Well that was cheery.
Despite Blizzard North not being a part of Diablo III's design, Brevik was actually happy about it. Why? Well, with Blizzard South taking over the reins it brought to light why people loved Blizzard North so much...
...it shows that the people that were involved in Diablo really did matter, and so I am happy that it has come to light that how talented that group was and how unique and special that group was. I am hoping that, as this happens very often in the industry, you see it with Call of Duty and things like that , when the people leave the game changes and it shows how critical people are in this industry.
That's very professional. Getting all butthurt instead of listening to his valid points.
Also gotta love the cocksucking in the comments.
what a thundercunt
Why does it seem like the newer devs on older series are always stuck up morons?
I feel like people who've been working on games since the start are humbler than those that started semi-recently.
Jay Wilson has always been a tremendous twat so I'm not sure why this comes as a surprise.
The D3 developers take criticism too hard. When you take the helm for one of the most praised and cherished series in gaming, you should expect a colossal amount of harsh criticism. It really is disappointing to see them act like this.

It's the huge ass ego boost they get by getting entrusted with such a huge thing such as the Diablo series. They think they're the shit now that they have the reigns, when they're actually just shit.
After hearing so much about Diablo 3, I sorta feel like that by not playing it, I missed out a solid chunk of modern gaming history.
I am fucking glad I did.
Wow. If it weren't for him you wouldn't even have had HALF the success you had with D3, cunt.
Getting mad because someone called your bad game bad.
Blizzard, what happened?

activision
naw seriously, i'm just guessing their best people slowly left the company kind of like square enix.
Fire this loser.
Fuck these losers
Diablo III was a fun game. For a couple of weeks. After that, it just felt like there wasn't a point in playing. The only way to advance was by playing a specific class, and then using a specific build. Pretty much the opposite of what they advertised the game would be like. Furthermore, the whole atmosphere of the game felt much more like World of Warcraft than Diablo, and the storyline was so retarded that it's on the same level as My Little Pony fanfiction. Chris Metzen couldn't write an interesting backstory if his life depended on it. I bet he's the Dark Lord of Plotholes or something.

It lasted 2-3 days for me.
I completed it twice in the first day, then finished Hell the second day, then after realising how stupidly hard Inferno is when you want to play with friends, I got sick of it and quit.
I hate him so god damn much. This is what Blizzard comes down to.
All of my fucking rage.
Jay Wilson is a FASSY...
I hope this becomes a PR shitstorm and he loses his job becuase this is unprofessional as fuck.
what a buzzkill
i bet he's a riot at parties
I just sort of blocked D3 out of my mind lore wise.
As far as I'm concerned the story ended on a huge cliffhanger.

Implying they take criticism at all. As a developer myself, might I say, fuck these losers.
Inferno Act 2, nope nope.
I got a lot of hours out of it but I still regret it since it never allowed me to accomplish what I've been playing for.(Beating it completely)
It's funny because Diablo 2 was so much better, Diablo 3 is so dumbed down it hurts.

But it has Diablo on the box so everyone bought it.

Thats what Blizzard was thinking when they made it.
I laughed when I read "That was Travis Baldtree, Andrew, not Brevik."
Really unprofessional of them to act like a bunch of children.
This would be a good time for Torchlight 2 to release.
I've been quite defensive of Blizzard as of late regarding Diablo 3, but this is completely unprofessional and very disappointing.
