• Over clocking Processor

First System Specs: 4GB of DDR 2 @ 800Mhz (Both same exact sticks, and timings.) Amd Phenom 2 945 @ 3GHz GIGABYTE GA-MA785G-UD3H Coolermaster 700w Modular Silent Pro M Series Now the problem is it isn't black edition, but not only that. I can over clock it through the FSB getting it at 240 which is 3.6GHZ. Now it will run and be fine, but when I run Boinc and it maxes out the processor it just takes a few minutes for it to BSOD. Now the BSOD says unfixable error or something like that, and says restart to see if it will start again which it does. And I also rise the volts, first to 3.750 then 4 and it still dies. Right now currently my processor is running maxed for more than 5 hours at 3GHZ which is default clock. So, the question I am asking is it just my motherboard or the processor is just a stubborn non overclocker?
dont go over 1.5volts but you dont want to ideally be there either. 1.5 absolute max
Changing the FSB also overclocks the RAM, that is probably where your problem is. With an FSB of 240, your RAM is probably 960MHz (I think). To test if it is your RAM, run memtest86 and if you get a bunch of errors, you have found your problem.
-snip- Whoops. It's not Black edition. It's probably messing with your RAM timings.
3.6GHz is probably the max you will get your AMD to go to. In rare cases I've seen 945's passing 4GHz, but you on the other hand just got a bad chip. Like that other guy said, 1.5V is the max you wanna go on an air cooler. Even then, running at that voltage is sure to degrade your chip. Oh, and before anyone brings up the 6.5GHz and 7GHz overclocks that the OC teams did, those were engineering samples.
