Anyone got tips creating a decent or interesting Fallout: New Vegas character? Not in appearances, but in stats.
I usually just dump all of my points into perception, agility, and luck. That way I increase my lock picking, guns, and sneak skills. I never cared much for luck in Fallout 3, but I figured it would be useful in New Vegas with all the luck based gambling.
In my experience of playing New Vegas, I find that guns, lock pick, sneak, and speech are the most important skills to invest points into.
Repair, Speech, Barter. Thats what I specialized in on my first run.
Speech is always nice to have handy.
Lockpicking. Disregard everything, acquire bobby pins.
Get science, get it VERY high level.(at least 80) Get out of freeside for free. Also barter is very worthwhile.

You know, you just need to HAVE 2000 caps, you do not need to give them away.
The stats I would go for... Well, I play hardcore mode, like everyone who have played FO3 should, and I therefore spend my points a lot on Medicine, Guns, Repair, Science and sometimes Sneak. My dump-stat is Barter.
As for the SPECIAL I put 8 into STR, 6 into PER, 7 into END, 1 into CHAR, 9 into INT, 6 into AGI and 2 into LUCK. Quicksaving and taking is slowly makes the Casino's quite easy. If I win once, then I leave and quicksave, and I come back a while later and repeat. Takes a while, but it's worth it
I try to get to New Vegas at the lowest level possible, with at least 4000 caps, so that I can buy the INT thingie to get more Skill points. I also recommend getting that Perk that gives 2 extra skill points at each level-up. The only negative thing about the low luck is that fucking Mysterious Stranger Perk, which may not be a bad perk, but can more often than not come and bite you in the ass. (If you want the weapon of someone without killing the person and such) The STR stat is just enough for me to get around with many items, until I get to Boone, at least.
I do believe that's all
