What I don't like: Another thing to buy
What I do like: Saves money from buying DLC individually
Tied on this.
One time buy instead of pay2use?
If so, I'm perfectly fine with that.
a DICEy proposition
heh
- Battlefield 3 Premium service announced
- New Gears of War game announced
- Skyrim Dawnguard trailer
- Dark Souls PC content confirmed for consoles
- Dead Space 3 screens leaked
- Humble Indie Bundle V announced
What the hell is going on today?
I honestly have no idea why so many people here are against this and making a big deal about it. For a one time payment it's actually a pretty decent deal to those who are planning to buy all of the future DLC.
wow another $50 to spend on a $60 game, fun stuff
Hey guys, remember Call of Duty Elite? Same shit strategy here.
Hey guys, remember Call of Duty Elite? Same shit strategy here.
Except you only pay once. And you save 10-25 dollars on DLC.
There is nothing wrong with this. Read the facts before bashing it.
That is significantly more acceptable than it sounded at first
Content looks pretty comparable to the the Call of Duty elite stuff.
Whatever floats your boat I guess!!
Imo instead of adding more content they should WAIT and FIX CURRENT SHIT
We still have MASS, servers that break the rules still being ranked, and the lovely "Something went wrong!" error.
nope make 5 new maps 4 gamemodes each for 20 maps cash for it like its a whole new game quickly before bf3 fades away
I'll stick to buying the DLC's as they come out, I wont be buying the CQC pack in the first place so it's pointless to spend the extra money all at once.
That I'd see the day that people are approving DLC, especially one that is 50 dollars.
Sure it's better than the COD counterpart, especially if it's a one time payment, but it's still a lot of money for just a few maps and other stuff.
For that kind of money you could buy a entire other game.
Approving this just because this is better than it's counterpart is just wrong and if you ask me dumb, it's exactly what EA is hoping for.

I'm pretty sure the CoD Elite is pretty much a one time payment kinda deal
Armored Kill
Back to Karkand
Close Quarters
End Game
five expansion packs
I thinkI know how to count, but, that's only 4 DLC. The BtK "DLC" wasn't even DLC, imo.
So that's only the 3, CoD expansion, I mean, Close Quarters. Tanks shooting tanks in a small map, Armored Kill, and Perks for nukes(speculated).
Now 'premium service' bullshit just like CoD Elite.
Look who turned out JUST like CoD, even though they said they didn't want to be like them, except better themselves from that area.
Then all the bugs, still in the game, all the graphical glitches, all the endless shit of shit. It's like they want people to go back to CoD.
CoD - You run around killing people, get new weapons, feel rewarded. Prestige, whatever.
BF3 - You run around killing people, get new weapons, hit end level and get bored, wait 4-5 months before small close quarter DLC that could be made by any small developer in a couple months.
Oh well, I don't play either of the shitty games.
Used to play BF3, not anymore. Bored of the minimum content.

In a good way.
Its as if they said "fuck being greedy, lets do something that actually benefits the players"
That was a nice thing to do.

What if this happened before... OH WAIT, remember expansion packs?
Its the exact same shit, and this seems better even.

If you need constant content to play a game I feel sad for you. I can have fun playing a game with what it has you don't need any additional content for it to keep being fun did you ever play counter strike ?
And the difference between COD Elite and this is that you only pay for it once.
I'm pretty sure the CoD Elite is pretty much a one time payment kinda deal
There's a free service which is equivilant to with what we have now and then there is this which is BF's "elite" so to say and from CoD elite site:
We are offering annual Call of Duty ELITE memberships at $49.99 in the U.S. This offers an incredible value since it includes approximately $60 of MW3 Content (based on the purchase of at least 4 Call of Duty map packs at $14.99 within a given year; map pack pricing subject to change), at no additional cost.
[sub][sub]huh, so i guess it is like cod elite but cheaper[/sub][/sub]

nope, it's the exact same price too.
To be honest, CoD Elite is basically the same thing, alright it's a subscription, but when you think about it you get all the maps for the current CoD game, then if you want the maps for the next game, you pay the same price again.
Battlefield Premium is just basically the same in that you get the same amount of content for the current battlefield game, and they'll probably bring it out again for the next battlefield game.
It's still pretty sad to see this is what games have turned to, rather than map editors and the community making maps and content, we're paying roughly the price of the game again for maps which could be made by the community for free.

The mass is getting patched next week
The fact is CoD just adds maps........BF3 actually adds proper expansion content, as in weapons and everything.......and since it's a one off payment i really don't have any problem with this as long as they stick to this formula and not a subscription one.
The reason people are comparing this to COD is because we are calling this a Premium service.
It is basically a DLC buy in one that has weapons, maps and all that other cosmetic stuff included.
------
There was news a premium service was coming and everybody thought oh no battlefield is doing a COD like pay monthly service full of cosmetic stuff just like COD. No it ended up being a one time purchase of all the DLC. It has cosmetic stuff but it includes weapons assignments and stuff worth getting.
I think about it as if I'd buy a full-fledged expansion to the game just like back in the old days. For pretty much the same price you get the same amount of content albeit not at once.

$50 a year. Gets you all of the DLC. Pretty much the same thing as this BF one.
Battlefield 3 sucked, overhyped, Bad company 2 was better and at least then the old world was near on destructable.
