It's pretty fun, especially with friends, haven't seen combat like this in other RPG's before.
This game looks pretty damn weeb but it's really fun to play.
This is probably one of the most generic looking MMO's I've played and the story/writing is schlock, but god damn if it's not a load of fun. The combat's superb.
The PvP in this game is extremely fun. Also the first content patch comes out Feb 10th!

I've found a lot of the cutscenes highly entertaining, especially when it tries to be dramatic.
a lot of people will quit in a matter of months

Honestly, I find a lot of the environments pretty nice looking. The immediate second area with the massive pillar cliffs was pretty great.

Staying power is the test of any MMO.

AFAIK Blade and Soul was originally a popular South Korean only game that western players wanted and the developers met the demand, it's a MMO so obviously relevancy is a challenge but it's been popular for quite some time now

Blade and Soul was stated to be coming to the west before it was even released in Korea but then something happened with the publisher and that shit took a nose dive. I mean hell they had a Blade and Soul trailer a long time ago

I mean more in terms of character designs, outfits and weapons, but yeah the environments are actually pretty gorgeous.

That's unavoidable with any F2P multiplayer release, but Blade and Soul has actually been a very popular game outside of the west before this. I don't think the dropoff will be as significant as most MMOs.
Game has pretty good combat. Surprised we don't have a thread for it.
It's a bummer the Kung Fu guy is so ping-reliant, I love casting fist on people.
Apparently Boobies are really popular.

Hey there's more to the game than boobs.
There's really good combat AND butts.
Supposedly they didn't think this would fare too well with western audiences. When we could have gotten this, we got Wildstar instead.

the anime adaption was the biggest pile of steaming shit
I think I remember seeing something about this a long time ago and being excited for it then forgetting it existed and hearing nothing about it. Guess I need to try it.
Don't like how two of the classes I'm interested in are restricted to the weird fox-rabbit race, however.

I mean, it's not like they're the only race with a class locked behind it. The Jin have Assassins and Gon have Destroyers, for example.

Just be a human with cat/dog ears and a tail.
have you seen my wu tang sword style?
the game is okay but fails in a lot of respects. its just a pvp arena with a generic 'everyones a fucking traitor' plot tacked on, boring 4kids english voice acting, boring as hell 'upgrade the weapon you get at the start until level 45, thats all you use' leveling with almost no explanation for skills and google translate-tier translations on a lot of the stuff. pvp is nice but its basically the only nice thing about the game outside of a couple of pve raids, but if you want a real engaging pve experience this isn't the game for you. pretty much all the bosses are dps checks, and we're going to be on a several year content drip because of the whole 'koreans get patches 6 months before everyone else' deal. not to mention NCsoft jewing everywhere. things like a month of premium for 995 ncoin, but you can only buy packages of 500, 1600, etc, and locking the wardrobe (which stores the costumes you get) to premium only, while its free for every other region of the game.
The game's combat is fun and all, but some of the other gameplay related decisions seem really odd to me. Like, why does fast travel cost money? Why does almost every item under the sun only sell for 1 copper? Why do common healing items cost 10 silver to buy from a merchant? Why isn't there infinite sprint?
It's mostly minor annoyances but they can add up quick.

Fast travel has cost money in most NCSoft games. WoW too. Its an in game money sink for convenience to keep hold of the in game economy. If you look there are many in pretty much every successful MMO.
Meh, I wanted to play it years ago. Now I'm looking forward to black desert.
Meh, I wanted to play it years ago. Now I'm looking forward to black desert.
I will say that my reaction when making my character last night was, "I kinda want to go play with the Black Desert character creator."
