I keep getting daily migraines/head aches, and it is really starting to effect my day to day life. I've gone to the doctor many times for this and they just give me some medicine and send me on my way. I've looked up reasons for these head aches/migraines, and one said is because of dehydration, but I drink a shit ton of water throughout the day. Another said because of high-blood pressure and I am not sure how high it is atm.. I also get "optical migraines" from time to time and those are especially annoying and hurts very badly.
Migraine is a neurological syndrome characterized by altered bodily perceptions, severe headaches, and nausea. Physiologically, the migraine headache is a neurological condition more common to women than to men. ...
(source: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&defl=en&q=define:Optical+migraine&sa=X&ei=7OdyTeyECMihtwfS9az-Dg&ved=0CBgQkAE) Yes I am a male so it is hard for my doctor to try and figure this all out. So please if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it!:unsmith::h:
Instead of going to your doctor, go to the local hospital and ask for a specialist.
Take some ibuprofen.
That dosent work very well.. I actually just took some, it just takes the sharpness away.

Not to be a Negative Nancy but you never want to rule out a brain tumor
Not to be a Negative Nancy but you never want to rule out a brain tumor
I got a MRI.. or a CAT scan.. i cant remember witch one, but no tumors here.
You might have a tumor bro. Pretend you are holding a salt shaker in your hand and then take it as if you were pouring salt in your mouth and shake it back and forth. If you taste salt or smell something strange as you are doing it this may be the classic sign of a tumor. [EDIT] Aww well, you should still try it out just in case.
You forgot the SarcMark :colbert:

So it cant be that, but you defiantly got me thinking if i eat something regularly that i mite me allergic to..
Do you use a pillow? May seem like a dumb question but when I was younger I would just sleep on my arm. I'd get headaches extremely often until I started using a pillow.

I have one of the worst migraines you can have and also one of the rarest. It starts with the optical thing you've described, they call it the 'Aura'. Basically a blind spot in your sight. Then, a small headache and hypersensitivity for light. From here I have 30 minutes to take a shit-ton of aspirine/ibuprofen and lie down, because I'll lose control over the left or right part of my body (depends which in which eye the aura is) and lose control over my speech. After about an hour in, the real headache kicks in (imagine a metal rod being jammed into your brain and pushed up and down). People who haven't had migraines can't imagine the pain, really. This usually lasts for 2 days. Because it was so rare, the doctors in the hospital immediately put me through brain scans during my first migraine. No tumors were found, though. (I think they just wanted to check brain activity and such, which is really cool!) I've did some research after my first two migraines, and the main cause for them are stress triggers. I've been really stressed out in the time period where my migraines were the most frequent, and over the past months they've been quite rare. All you can do against a migraine is take aspirins or ibuprofen and lie down in a dark room and try to sleep. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] I hope this helped, and I really hope this will just pass on for you. It's a terrible thing to have, and it's nothing you'd wish anyone, not even your worst enemy.
have you seen a neurologist? i highly suggest you do.
No, I haven't... I will look into it
You have a brain tumor. You're going to die.
have you seen a neurologist? i highly suggest you do.
They're expensive if your healthcare doesn't cover this, and they can't do shit about migraine. The best you can do is visit a psychologist who can help you get over your stress, which I guess is your main problem that's triggering the migraines.
I've tried.. aspirin dosent work well with migraines edit: as i have said in previous post...
Hey man my mom gets chronic headache/migraines too. She's been prescribed every pill you can imagine to kill the pain but they all don't seem to take the pain away. She tried medical marijuana when she found out she was eligible for a medical marijuana license in the state of California. It's the only thing she has that truly relieve her migraines. It's the only thing she can take, fall asleep, and wake up feeling well again. She is 56. Hope this helped OP. Don't let the naysayers fool you, if anything they said was true then why does my state government have legalized medical marijuana for thousands of people like my mother?

By 'the doctor', what kind of doctor do you mean? a specialist or a GP/ER nurse?
