That's probably because you need PS+ to play games online now
In other news a lot of PC gamers use steam.
I don't even know why they made the online pay-to-use. It worked fine with the online being free for PS2 and PS3.

PS4 drastically outsold the Xbox One, there is practically no way that they could manage without at least some cash monthly. Least of all since Sony was thinking of canning their gaming department at one point.
I don't even know why they made the online pay-to-use. It worked fine with the online being free for PS2 and PS3.
Because Microsoft has shown that people are willing to pay for a nonexistent service.
I don't even know why they made the online pay-to-use. It worked fine with the online being free for PS2 and PS3.
Because money? Is that a serious question?
Because Microsoft has shown that people are willing to pay for a nonexistent service.
Xbox Live was a better service than the original PSN was.
Xbox Live was a better service than the original PSN was.
I didn't notice much of a difference to be honest.
That's probably because you need PS+ to play games online now
Not all games require you to have a subcription to play online as that is up to the developer to decide.
Not all games require you to have a subcription to play online as that is up to the developer to decide.
I thought that was only for F2P game developers?
I thought that was only for F2P game developers?
ESO doesn't require PS+, but does require Xbox gold, and iirc they never specified if was only F2P or not. [editline]11th February 2014[/editline] ah, it seems to be f2p only so you're right http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/13/ps4-publishers-decide-if-free-to-play-needs-ps-plus
i believed that until i stopped fanboying over the 360 and bought a ps3 when i found a cheap one in 2008~ every now and then the network dropped or whatever (like once every 10 hours of gameplay) but beats paying a monthly fee for some bullshit 'service'
Did PS3 ever get party chat?
Did PS3 ever get party chat?
I believe so, I also believe the reasoning for Xbox Live providing a better service was mostly due in-part to it having a subscription fee. Here's to hoping PS4's service is just as good if not better.

I'm pretty certain PS4 has at least a decent service... it just needs some games to make good use of it.
The whole Playstation Network part on the PS3 felt so incredibly buggy and slow compared to the butter smooth 360. It felt Sony added PSN later into the system while Xbox was build on it. Guess that will be changing for the PS4, but so far i also heard the massive drawbacks of profits thanks to the free PSN, servers still cost money..
