not surprised
that or cutting development time by 6 months or so might have lead to quite a few compromises or having to build everything with the shitty low rez textures and assets from fallout 3 because the budget wouldn't permit new texture work
Tons of games were, and like it or not still are. Especially in the era where the xbox 360 was practically a century behind. [editline]4th October 2017[/editline] Devs commonly fuck the PC version over for the sake of consoles you might even unironically end up with versions that need massively good hardware for something that doesn't even look good enough to justify that
One of the first mods I got for New Vegas was the one that opened up the vegas strip as one whole area instead of 3 small ones.
If Obsidian had been given nore leeway and time I don't doubt that New Vegas would've been fleshed out better and bigger than what we got. To imagine we might've seen the Strip on a greater scale or the beginnings of a Mojave Wasteland under the control of the Legion, Mr. House or even Yes Man.
It's amazing how even with a ridiculously short deadline, already existing assets, a decade old engine and a limited freedom of development so you can fit the game in consoles, Obsidian pulled something miles better than Bethesda ever did. So imagine if they were given more time and better conditions and material to work with.
They didn't have enough time, either. If I recall there was going to be a whole Legion side of the river that showed what life was like under them outside of wartime but they just didn't have the time or resources. It's just such a sad story. They managed to make a great game despite all their restrictions, and then they got screwed out of their big metacritic score bonus because it was buggy on day one and that's the only day a lot of reviewers play their games on.

I could be overly sarcastic bordering on being a dick, but I'll just stick with the standard, what else ISN'T compromised by consoles.
That mod exists? Time to reinstall..
There's another one that opened up freeside but that was more likely to bring my computer to it's knees.
That mod exists? Time to reinstall..
It does, but if they haven't managed to fix it, it breaks a lot of scripts because the monorail relies on it being in three parts.

Time constraints pretty much forced the Legion into a rather one dimensional warband of sorts, not the fully fledged nation Obsidian wanted to create.

And even with the major restrictions that Obsidian had with New Vegas, they managed to have a better game. Bethesda have no excuses.
