I will be making a new PC soon but I have no idea what parts I should buy. I am not picky about brands the only thing I do want is a Blu ray optical drive (Read only). I do not need a Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, OS or speakers. And I will be buying the the parts at alternate.nl.
for a cooler you can get something like the NH-D14 or Hyper 212+
Is a Z68 necessary? Unless he's using an SSD he won't benefit from the SSD caching and I can't think of the other benefits to P67 (movie transcoding benefit?) but if he drops the Z68 for a P67 board for 100 euros he can get a better card/s. The case doesn't need to be that expensive either. Here's a build: You get 2x 6950's and a CPU cooler included. Just to show you the difference here's a benchmark showing a 570 vs 6950 crossfire, red marks in-case you miss them.
Or he buys a 570 now and adds a second 570 which is better than the 6950 CF's [editline]31st May 2011[/editline] You should also get a modular power supply, as in the first build
I assume the OP wants the best computer he can get now rather than almost the best while paying full price anyway, then paying another 200 euros down the road for performance he could of got without spending the extra, plus the difference between 6950's and 570's is slim and not worth the 120 euros difference in my opinion. If you wanted to leave SLI/Xfire as an upgrade option I'd definitely go with a single 580 than the 570 given the budget. And while I agree a modular power supply would be better I see it as a want rather than a need, it'll help improve cable management and reduce clutter but that's about it, it's not as if the CM690 isn't going to fit all those wires anyway, it's a roomy case. Plus I had to fit it into the budget and non-modular is cheaper.

I just took a look at some stuff and came up with a system. Now I am not good at this so bare with me if this system won't even function. But if it does would this be worth the price?
Ignore the fan, its a replacement for the red one in the haf 922. You would want a modular PSU, A Hyper 212+ as CPU Cooler. Think of SLI/CF as a upgrade. Don't start with it right away. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] And you wont benefit from a 2600k because almost no games take advantage of hyperthreading.

The money I have anyways. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] Never mind I see what you mean. Wait and get a second 570 later. But is that worth the 110 extra I would be spending if I don't get the 2 HD6950s but 2 GTX570s (overtime)?
A 570 outperforms a 6950, and a 6970 in most cases. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] And also has PhysX, CUDA, and better OpenGL support.
A 570 can play (almost) every game on the market on Max at 1920x1080
Also you could save more money by getting a P67 motherboard instead of a Z68 like on my list. Z68 is my preference because i plan on using Smart Response and Lucix Virtu. (Do note that the P8P67 has different memory support) [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] Let me get a part number on ram for a P8P67
Uhh As long as it's DDR3 RAM it should work
I always like the use the manufactures QVL just to be sure, and according to that, this ram works fine with a Asus P8P67 [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_PRO/#MSL

[editline]7th June 2011[/editline] I changed some things like the casing And I'm under 1000 euro now. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] I can go to 1200 euro is there is anything that will be better.
It should work, but its not in Asus' QVL
It should work, but its not in Asus' QVL
I added the Corsair ones you suggested. Anything in the build that could be changed?
Why are you going with a µATX mobo instead of ATX? It will only make cable management harder..
Why are you going with a µATX mobo instead of ATX? It will only make cable management harder..
Because I didn't know there was a difference. Is a µATX a smaller motherboard? (What I could see from a quick google search)
Because I didn't know there was a difference. Is a µATX a smaller motherboard? (What I could see from a quick google search)
That case both supports µATX and ATX. The difference is the size, and thus what can fit on it. the µATX edition has no PCI slots.
mATX/µATX is just ATX but shorter, with 4 expansion slots instead of 7 but it's usually used on lower end mobos, it won't make cable management that much harder it's just the mobo won't be right next to all of the cable routing holes in the case the P8P67-M Pro is pretty good value, used to be the cheapest mobo with 8x/8x PCI-E slots but the problem with it being mATX is you want to leave at least one slot between cards for them to get decent airflow, because of this you should get the full ATX P67A-G45 instead for the same price https://www.alternate.nl/html/search/result.html?tn=HARDWARE
That case both supports µATX and ATX. The difference is the size, and thus what can fit on it. the µATX edition has no PCI slots.
Should I add another one then? I honestly don't think I would use a PCI slot.
You cant link searches on alternate.
You cant link searches on alternate.
He means this one. https://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Moederborden_Socket_1155/MSI/P67A-G45_%28B3%29/540757/?
https://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Moederborden_Socket_1155/MSI/P67A-G45_%28B3%29/540757/? here then
As in, your link broke
Does that motherboard support an SLI setup? (On the MSI site it only mentions Crossfire)
all P67 boards with 2 PCI-E slots do it even says "True PCI-E 2.0 SLI and Crossfire X" on the board itself it probably doesn't meet sli "certification" for some reason, but this doesn't mean anything apart from some marketing BS

So, anything I can change or add? I can go up to 1200 euro.
you could get an SSD to install the OS and a few priority applications on to for speed, just make sure it's plugged into a SATA 6Gbps port and look up various SSD tips and tricks to get the most life out of it https://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Solid_State_Drive_2,5_inch_SATA/OCZ/AGT3-25SAT3-60G/554717/? maybe bump the case up to a fractal define XL but there isn't a huge need other than that it's a pretty solid build
