This is a sad day (well yesterday was)
Art Clokey, the animator who created the lovable, bendable clay creation Gumby over a half-century ago, died in his sleep Friday in Los Osos, Calif., his son told the Los Angeles Times. Clokey, who was 88, had been stricken with persistent bladder infections. Clokey invented Gumby in the early 1950s which led to his making animated shorts featuring the figure and his horse pal Pokey for the 'Howdy Doody Show.' It was his wife Ruth's idea to give him the appearance of a gingerbread man. Soon enough, Gumby had his own show, 'The Adventures of Gumby,' which was the first to use claymation on TV. Since then, Gumby has popped up in new films and TV series' and in the 1980s was famously satirized by Eddie Murphy on 'Saturday Night Live.' Murphy's Gumby smoked cigars and was profane, but that didn't bother Clokey. "Gumby can laugh at himself," Clokey said at the time. The cultural icon is still popular today and has even moved into the new world of social media -- Gumby has over 134,000 fans on Facebook.
God bless you Art Clokey, may you and Gumby entertain in heaven for the rest of eternity :patriot: If you don't know who or what Gumby is then you did not have a good childhood and were probably not born before 1995. Gumby really freaked me out when I was high.

I vaguely remember a scene where Gumby fought an evil clone/twin in a lightsaber duel. But that was so long ago I don't even know if that memory is correct. RIP, Art Clokey.
You will be missed, Art. :( I have toys of Gumby and Pokey :(
Or you're not an american or a brit.
I am neither of those and I still watched/enjoyed Gumby as a child.
I am neither of those and I still watched/enjoyed Gumby as a child.
Or australian

That was awesome.
None of you actually know who that guy is. You only know what he created.
Or australian
just admit you had a terrible childhood

Of course I remember Gumby. And those block guys trying to do bad things. I wanted to watch every episode. RIP, Art Clokey.
I never watched Gumby, isn't this Veggie Tails? Doesn't that have STRONG Christian Over-Tones?
Holy toledo!
Sad day indeed. His works opened me up to animation.
None of you actually know who that guy is. You only know what he created.
What you create is all that will be left after you die. After centuries have gone by, people won't remember who you are, they remember what you've done.
i never watched gumby (Maybe i was too young) but i saw the mst3k episode where they made fun of gumby though and it looked like a ok show.

I remember the episode where they got that remote-controlled ball thing that would change into whatever you wanted.
