I don't see GTA as movie-material. I mean... It's all about the vastness and capabilities you have to fuck around in the games that make them so great. Making a movie about that would be a very generic crime-action movie.

The movie would just consist of Michael Bay and his explosions.
With Hans Zimmer in the background.

I like how Shacknews said GTA is a cash cow franchise. When yes it earns them a lot of money with every release from the GTA series but the last game was released 5 years ago...

Staring Eddie Murphy as Lance Vance.

Same as Postal movie. I haven't see it but I don't know how cna you make a movie of that kind of game.
the GTA plots are too simple to be a movie. Watch any crime drama movie and you've seen every element in every gta game
The thing about GTA is that the only reason why it's always a success is because they've built a brand around it and keep it fresh. Having a movie adaptation wouldn't be notable since it's just a bunch of movies packed together and throw in some pop culture.
You can't make a movie out of most games these days.
I'll pick Max Payne 3 as an example. That's the sort of target that Hollywood would go for, but as it's already very cinematic and decently long, converting it into a 90 minute film is pointless. 90 minutes is the length of an intro to some games now.
I do think that the way TV is going with bigger budgets and higher production values, some games would make amazing shows. 12 episodes could allow the depth of a game to show though, but only hypothetically. Ultimately, video game movies show the lack of creativity in the industry.
Just create something new.
Honestly, GTA pulls so much from so many movies that it seems incestuous to attempt to convert it to a movie franchise.
