I really don't this games art style. It looks so bland in game. And the giant numbers everywhere make it look like a cellphone game. Hopefully the finished version looks better.
To be honest, I think the 3D looks a little cheap. I always prefer drawn sprites in this style of game.
Still, Megaman is Megaman.
It's coming to 3DS?
I know what my next Day 1 purchase will be.

None of the lighting or post-processing effects have been put in.
UE3 is an ugly beast without its filters.
You all have to remember it's still a work in progress aka they aren't showing the final product (this should be obvious). They hopefully will improve the look of the gameplay and graphics when it comes closer to release (I to want it to look and play more then just a generic cell phone game). Also that dash attack shown in the video reminds me of the Nova Strike in the Mega Man X series when X gets the fourth/Nova armor in X4 and Ultimate Armor in X4 to X6 and X8 (which was quite overpowered, the only bosses the move didn't work or would end up causing a lot more damage to you would be with Sigma's last form in X4 and X6, Gate from X6, etc). I hope it isn't so powerful that any weapons and such you obtain from the bosses end up being barely used because of it.
Do you really need a big rating number after every enemy you kill.

It seems like they're trying to go for a score attack thing, which I can kind of understand, a good chunk of the Megaman fanbase lived for perfect runs and other challenges, and there was a score/combo thing in X8 as well, although I do agree this one is a bit more obnoxious.

Hopefully they make this whole score attack thing an option at best.
Honestly I was wishing it looked like this

Not 2.5-D
Why can't the game be 2D ?
Something like spelunky HD, only megaman would have been great. That 3D looks cheap and underwhelming.
I dont know why, but the 3D look gave me weird Sub Space emissary vibes.
HD 2D sprites would have been a lot better

I wonder if it would look better if they used an orthographic camera than one with perspective.
I am really interested in the psychological differences between 2D and 3D graphics. So far I assume that one major detraction is that 3D animation is too smooth.
Gives me a really strong Megaman X8 vibe. I'll always prefer 2D for sidescrollers, "2.5D" and 3D feel so wrong.

I think it has more to do with the space between the gameplay area and the fore/background. In 2D games the fore/background are literal layers and it's strongly implied that even in-universe it would't be easy to travel from one layer to another. In 2.5D the Fore/Backround literally stretches out of the gameplay area, so you can easily tell when it would be possible to walk straight into the fore/background in-universe even though you can't actually do it in-game.
