For all who don't know the ASVAB is a test in order to join the United States Military. I will be taking this test but I am kinda of scared of what my score might be. To anyone who has pass the ASVAB please give me some tips on how to do good on it. Thanks.
I just took on the task of having to help tutor my friend for the ASVAB. Its like any other standardized test such as the SAT. Find out whats on it, take a practice test, look at what your bad at, go improve, do this until you get better. They won't send you to MEPS to take the test unless you score above passing on the practice test. You need above a 50 now from what ive been told, don't quote me on that, but you want to make above a 50 regardless. Score the highest score you can, dont aim for the score that will just "get you by", you shouldn't do that on any kind of test, thats just lazy. They break the ASVAB down into line scores, which is what is really important, since these make or break if you can get a specific job or not if you are medically qualified for it. http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/joiningup/a/asvababcs.htm The test is timed, so just use your test taking skills, stay calm/relaxed, and just move through it.A good one is working a problem back-wards. you can solve 90% of any type of math problem on a test like this by doing that, it can just be a little more time-consuming. Learn how to do math-long hand as well, or practice. 4 years of high school using TI-84s, can really fuck you over when you have to do math without them. If you payed attention in school you should do fine. If you didn't, well, you should of, shame on you. [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] also direct all your future questions to this thread.
