• Upgrade PC time (for birthday!)

I'm upgrading my pc for my birthday. The thing is I'm not all too sure what to upgrade. Budget is probably around $300-$400. CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz MOBO - ASUS M4A785-M (probably upgrading this) RAM - 8GB DDR2 800 Hz ( I have 4GB of DDR3 sitting around but my motherboard currently doesn't support DDR3) Video Card - EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 560 Ti Power Supply - 600W Corsair I'm thinking about getting a new MOBO. However, I'm not sure if I should get an Intel or stick with my AMD. What would you guys suggest? Thanks!
Everything is fine except that AMD motherboard and CPU, You could fix an asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3 and an i5 2500k in your budget which would be the best, Although Personally I would wait until april when the new ivy bridges come out and get those or get the 2500k slightly cheaper.
Budget went up to $450 now. I kinda want a i7 2600k. If I get the asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3 and the i7 it would add up to $440, which is perfect. Anyone else have any suggestions?
No no no no no! Do not get a 2600k there is no point! Get a 2500k.
OR wait until april for IvyBridge to drop, which will lower prices on SandyBridge, if the performance increases don't attract you to them. I know it sucks having to wait to buy new parts (I'm waiting for IvyBridge) but it will be worth it
I'd wait for Ivy Bridge. It's only a couple of months away and it's not like your PII X4 is causing your computer to slow to a crawl or anything.
