A tiny space rock called a micrometeoroid is apparently to blame for temporarily knocking out a weather satellite that keeps an eye on the eastern United States, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says. The satellite was officially returned to normal operations on Monday.
The micrometeroid hit an arm for the solar array panel on GOES-East, also known as GOES-13, "knocking the satellite off its delicate, geostationary balance," NOAA said in a news release.
This gives me a deep suspicion that at any moment a random microscopic object will somehow make it through our atmosphere and blast into my head.

Yes, but meteors that actually get down to earth's surface are rather rare compared to meteors that vaporize on entering the athmosphere.

Rare is just another word for being an unlucky bastard. You and the dinosaurs have something to chat about, Sir!

Well it's all about probabilities and blah blah blah, you could die by falling out of your bed every morning. It's even more likely than death by meteorites.

Stats and More likely to and What are the odds are all stupid, though. Yeah you're more likely to be in a car accident than a plane crash, but tell that to the people who have been in a plane crash
