So, this is a strange one, and I've tried a bunch of things and I just can't figure out what's going on.
I can access everything just fine over WiFi to our Belkin router, however when I try to use my Ethernet cord, very, very few things will connect properly. Thus far google and facebook work when I have the ethernet cord in, but nothing else really connects.
I tested to see that the two things working were going via IPV6, I disabled it, they stopped working, re-enabling it made them work fine again.
I re-installed IPV4 for the ethernet adapter, nothing changed, I tried updating the drivers for the ethernet card, no difference. flushed the DNS, did ipconfig /release and /renew, can't figure out why IPV4 isn't working over ethernet. I also did a system restore to about 16 hours ago when it was working just fine.
I'd really appreciate some theories as to what might be causing it to not work properly.
Using a Lenovo Y500, Network device is "Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)"
Sounds like the router's DHCP-server has somehow glitched out, and will only supply wired devices with IPV6 adresses?
Have you tried completely resetting the router? There should be a tiny little button on it which you have to keep pressed for 30 seconds or so.
Sorry for not updating, I turned off the modem and router for like 3 minutes and set it back up and it works fine now, I just didn't think it was that seeing as I had previously reset it after the problem started and it didn't fix it, and it was working fine for everyone else, just not my Ethernet port.
I also didn't try resetting it again at the time because there were 3-4 other people using it, so I waited till everyone went to bed to leave it turned off for a bit.
Thanks for the reply, though.
