I started in 2005, watching my brother and my dad play Day of Defeat: Source. My dad told me I wasn't allowed to play it because it was bloody, but my brother and I snuck on late at night anyway. We'd play hours and hours of mario_air, and we became gods of sniping. A couple months later, my dad found out I had been playing and, much to my surprise, wasn't angry at all and even helped me set up my own steam account. Then I started to explore steam, and discovered games like Garry's Mod (which lead me to here in '08), TF2, HL2, CS:S, etc. I lost that steam account a while ago, and then created my current one to replace the lost account.
So, what about you guys? What games got you into PC gaming?
Buying the Orange Box in 2008
Before I really knew what it was, I used to love the old gmod website, back before it was just purely news. I loved the videos and pictures that got posted and I just really wanted to play. Later, the discovery of Concerned only further cemented my desire to play. So eventually I bought a laptop, and the rest is history.
But way, way before that, my cousin let me play half life and deus ex in his computer when I little, though I never knew their names until I got into pc gaming myself years later.
I was 3 years old and Diablo had come out but it came out after my birthday that year so I got it on my fourth birthday.
Then I discovered other games to fill the time between then and Diablo II coming out so it went from there.
It was a combination of these computer game orders at my school (got Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and SimCity 4 through them), seeing my cousin play Crysis and Gmod, and watching videos on Youtube that started me on PC games.
Once upon a time, I was at a walmart, sometimes I liked to buy Point and click games from walmart.
Then one day...I asked my mother to buy this one collection of games from an Orange case.
And that's how it all began.
About 14 years ago my family was going through some really tough stuff. My dad bought me a copy of Lego Racers and Rock Raiders amidst all that. Thinking back it was probably just to keep me out of everyone's hair, but damn if those aren't some of the most fun games I've ever played. I got into more modern stuff with Star Wars Battlefront shortly after it came out, which was also after I'd just had some teeth extracted. Y'know, now that I think about it, it's only since I've been buying my own games that I haven't been sick or otherwise feeling shitty when I got a new one.
My dad showing me Doom and Quake and stuff was the first time I played PC games, but it all really started when I discovered TF2.
Started playing on a Mac OS 8.6, just random shitty game demos.
then I remember Warcraft 2 and Starcraft being the latest hits, so I bought them and played the shit out of them. I then moved from Mac to Windows when I saw GTA 3, I got hooked and played that a lot as well. I registered on Steam after buying the orange box and that lead me here.
Guess a long time ago when I first played Half Life on my PC. Was so interested in how PC gaming worked, that I got more games like Microsoft 3D Movie Maker, and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Got more in to PC gaming when Steam came out, and advanced.
Age of Mythology and then Club Penguin
when I realized how shitty xbox TF2 was

earliest memory but there is probably more
PSN hacking back in '11, bought L4D games, rest is pretty self-explanatory.
I think it was either Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun or Half Life.
I first started playing Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos, then Frozen Throne. Then came across steam and then started to play CS:S. Which lead me onto garry's mod and half life. My life has never been the same.
Prior to this, my first console was the N64. my Parents couldn't afford to have a snes or anything before it, so the N64 was a God send in my eyes back then.
The Sims 2 and Counter Strike 1.6 around 2003 or 2004
I only played The Sims 2 because it had "nudity". :v:
The original Red Alert is when I really started.

about 2005
I think it was in the 90's and my dad had some shareware games that he let me play. But the one game i remember playing the most was The Sims 1.
Got into PC gaming when I got a PC in 1995, been playing ever since. Back then it was a lot of graphic adventure games and some racing games (like the first couple Need for Speed games). Later I got into a whole bunch of RTS games (star craft, age of empires, etc.), and played a lot of Tomb Raider.
Im trying to remember my first FPS and drawing a blank...
UT99, way long ago.
1995 maybe, when I was 2 - 3, playing Rise of the Triad, Tyrian, GTA in '97, Soldier of Fortune in '98 as well as Attack of the Saucermen and Earthsiege, UT99, C&C Red Alert & AoE among other games in the latter half of the 90s
I played nfs3, Descent, Earthsiege, and replayed Myst every 2 years until I found another PC game I actually enjoyed, which was Gunz: the Duel.
I can't remember if it was Keen4 or the Doom Shareware that got me into PC gaming.
My dad took me to a local computer hardware/software shop and he asked me which game I wanted to buy. We picked out Half Life 1 and we then spent the next month playing through the game together.
TF2.

Forever changed my life.
Friend showed me Gmod in 2009 and I was immediately hooked.
No idea
