• Computer randomly turning on?

I originally wasn't going to start a thread about this but fuck it. I got windows 7 professional last week and have been have a strange problem. When ever I'm done using my desktop I put it into hibernation (faster start-up) then leave to do what ever. Well when ever I come back it's at the log-in screen (turned it's self on) Like now I'm on it after coming up from the basement (was posting on laptop) to find the familiar buzz of the fans and glow of the leds. I do have automatic updates working to install at 3am if I leave it on. But it's only 12:30 and I've been down stairs since 6:30. At some point during that time it turned it's self on. The people who live with me don't know how to turn it on. Nor would they waste 550 watts + monitor on nothing. It wakes me up at 5:30 in the morning sometimes. So dudes do you have any ideas of what kind of phantom or program could turn my computer on? Tonight I plan on leaving my monitor on stand by so I can see whats going on if it wakes me up. I'll be back on around 8 in the morning here. (GMT-5) To see what you guys have come up with. If it helps my laptop doesn't do this when I put it into hibernation. [editline]12:41AM[/editline] Oh yeah good night.
Check to make sure that your networking settings are not set to "wake" the computer.
I was looking for that setting do you know where it is on windows 7? (can't sleep)
You can find it in your BIOS, when the computer starts up enter setup and make sure that LAN doesn't wake it up. This function is often used for companies or internetcafés who want to keep track on what machines are running, and at the same time be able to turn them on if needed. Good luck :)
Turn off WoL, turn off "mouse can wake PC".
Thanks I'll try it later.
