Just want to show you guys that the 9800GT line on Newegg.com dropped in price a lot. $60ish dollars with the rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125288 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130535 Since it rivals the 4850, getting one of these two models is a steal. The cheapest 4850 is $80 with a rebate on Newegg.
I noticed it a few weeks ago, I'll grab one or two probably later this week.
Yeah, I'm really tempted to get one to replace my 4670. According to benchmarks, the 9800GT is perfect for medium resolutions like 1366x768.
4850 is a 9800 GTX+
he said 4670

My bad. Odellus is correct. It does lose to the 4850 sometimes by 10 FPS, but still since they don't sell the 8800GT this card at that price is pretty nice.
So tempting. I'd totally buy it if it weren't for this shitty PSU.

Holy crap. Even more tempted to upgrade.
you can run this as a physx card can't you? because I am defiantly thinking about doing that
I think 9800GT clocks are supposed to be 600mhz/1500mhz/1800mhz(core/shader/memory). Some of the 9800GTs offered on Newegg are 'green' cards, using less power but operating at slower speeds. Gimped, in other words. You won't get the performance from them as you would see in normal 9800GT benchmarks.
You could overclock them to those base stats can't you??
Sure, but since overclocking is not guaranteed, I never count it as a given. For instance, what if the particular card has insufficient cooling to deal with standard clock speeds under load? Sure you could add your own better cooling, but if you have that extra money to spend why didn't you just buy a better card to start with?
Which card would two of these in Sli mode would be equivalent to? [editline]12:14AM[/editline] Will they be more powerful than a GTX 460?
no

I'm just guessing it would be probably somewhere between a 5770-5830.

My school blocks some websites, compusa being one of them.
What is it? My school blocks some websites, compusa being one of them.
It is the evga 9800gt for 80 bucks before the rebate and 50 after.
holy shit, quad sli would be awesome with those
except the 9800 GT doesn't support quad SLI and you wouldn't notice any difference beyond two cards
Wait isn't the one DSG posted also $50 after rebate?
