Hershey considers placing a bid on Cadbury, nothing much ensues
US chocolate maker Hershey is considering launching a solo bid of at least $17bn (£10bn) for British firm Cadbury, according to reports.
Under pressure from its charitable trust, Hershey has lined up funding from Bank of America and JP Morgan, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
But the US company is still also considering a joint bid with Italy's Ferrero, the paper said.
Cadbury has already rejected a £9.8bn offer from food firm Kraft.
Damn. I doubt it'll get far, though, as $17bn is only £0.5bn higher than the offer from Kraft (under the current exchange rate). I sure hope that Cadbudy don't accept if they actually put an offer in.
:britain:
Nah, Cadbury's not stupid enough. They've probably got enough profits to earn double that anyway.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
and only 0.5bn higher, that's still a huge amount of money

What do you mean, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"? Cadbury's is an amazing company as it is. They make the fucking best chocolate ever. Why would you want some other company to buy them out and make all of their products shit?
No idea what cadbury is.

British chocolate company. Pretty decent one at that.
My word, Sir Rockinghamfordshire! How disdainly of an endeavour for Hershey to undertake! Heaven will take note!
Fuck hershey and their powdery textured bollocks they call chocolate.
Cadburys fucking own, and hershey shouldn't be in on our British goodness.

how many fucking times. just because a company buys out another, they arent going to purposely ruin all of their products and LOSE MONEY in the process.

That's usually what happens in England, though.

Yeah! They're just going to unintentionally do it.

No, of course not, but they're probably going to believe that their own chocolate is better than Cadbury's because... well, why wouldn't they? Why wouldn't they take pride in their own company and their own chocolate? The could make changes to the recipe and still slap on the same names and labels and while they honestly may think it's better, it may not be to all of us.
I think chocolate recipes and stuff should be diverse. We don't want one company having a monopoly over the market and making everything with the same basic recipe (I mean, of course chocolate itself has one basic recipe, but the ratio of ingredients and extra things added into the companies base mixture differs from company to company).

Honestly I don't eat much chocolate but Cadbury's know their shit when it comes to chocolate - Can't be denied.

Lindt has got it spot on I think :D
Well Hershey can fuck off then can't they?
Has anyone here actually been to the Cadburys factory?
It's pretty amazing.
Cad :buddy: ?
Hershey bars taste like soap, they're horrible, Cadbury's should be buying them, not the other way around.
I don't want America to corrupt British Chocolate heaven.
Fuck off Hershey, your chocolate is utter shit.
Maybe it won't be so bad. Then they could bring some of that British chocolate to the states.
I doubt acquiring cadbury will change the chocolate
Hersey tastes like crap, dont do it cabs
havent lived until youve tried cadburys dairy milk caramel
The difference is Hershey's tastes like shit and cadbury tastes like chocolate, I doubt they'll win
Hershey's seems to have a monopoly on chocolate in the states. Cadbury's is great.

Yeah, they do, although I fucking loved Cadbury's chocolate. It is actually better than Hershey's.
Damn keyboard is dying on me.
Cadbury's chocolate tastes cheap and horrible compared to Galaxy.
I'd rather hersheys than kraft, mainly because they are another family owned chocolate company; but I'd still prefer Cadburys to stay solo.
Also, good news for the shareholders (i.e. me), about 4 months ago they were at £5 a share, they were at about £8.50 the last time i checked. Which was just in time for my university tuition fees :D
Thanks for the free money Kraft :)
