Source games freeze PC completely, manual restart needed

this is probably the third time i post about this here
most if not all Source engine games jam my computer completely, totally and absolutely. no black screens, no BSODS, no error messages; everything just freezes right there and then. usually happens after 20 seconds to one minute of playing; no idea what the fuck is causing this so i hope you people do
here's my specs for the bazillionth time

has so far happened with TF2, DOD:S, the old GMod and the new one, and also HL2 and the episodes although randomly
interesting side note: my windows clock is never on time anymore, and i heard that might be caused by a slowly failing CMOS battery. could this have something to do with that?
why is your graphics card so hot, and your motherboard?
go buy some fans

when i turn this on, it never gets hotter than 45-50 degrees celsius, which SHOULD be an acceptable temperature
woah ignore the "Source" part, it just happened with Deus Ex HR
I've seen CMOS problems do weird shit, I'd get the battery replaced
the motherboard has been in there for at least 4 years so no wonder the little pellet's dying
now i just got to find a replacement. they sell those things separately, right?

holy fuck i'm dumb just got informed that it's just a regular lithium battery pellet
