• Clegg tells party, "expect more protests"

Nick Clegg has told his party to 'hold their nerve and get used to protests' as thousands of students and trade unions protest outside the Lib Dem conference. He also told them "with power comes protesters" and that it was impossible to please everyone. After protesters claimed the Liberal Democrats were becoming Conservatives, he joked, "I share a bed with my wife - that doesn't mean I'm a woman" Lib Dem activists may have to run the gauntlet of anti-government protesters on Saturday. On Friday, several hundred people gathered outside Sheffield City Hall, which is surrounded by a £2m "ring of steel" and a heavy police presence, to chant anti-Lib Dem slogans. "You can't do everything when you are in power, but you can't do anything when you are not. With power comes protest. We need to get used to it." Maybe you can't do anything when you're not in power, but getting into power based on the votes of people who you then completely ignore in favour of frantically rimming David Cameron and his policies isn't exactly an improvement.
I don't understand why everyone's getting so annoyed with the lib dems. They obviously will have to make a lot of compromises, they are massively outnumbered by the conservatives in the coalition. They're doing what they can to get their policies in place but it seems like everyone expects them to deliver everything they said they would do if they got in power. They aren't in power. They are sharing it with the conservatives and have a significantly lesser portion too.
Alright, maybe it was an over-reaction. But first, obligatory: If they can get Proportional Representation through, then maybe it was worth it.

why did Nick Clegg cross the road? because he said he wouldn't.
The Lib dems can do what they want, after the whole coalition fiasco I think they'd be lucky to get half the votes that they did in the last election.

Otherwise what is the point of voting for them in the first place? Before they were elected they we're incredibly popular among the students, so many people young people I knew who were not politically interested or active, actually paid attention to this election. Most of them casting votes in with the Lib Dems. It was great to actually feel there was a party who could represent your generation, rather than just pandering after the excessive flab of the baby-boomers. It's practically fraudulent.
you're not supposed to get used to it idiot, you're supposed to pay attention and see why people are protesting
I can see why they're protesting. I'd be fucking furious if the people I voted for just did whatever conservatives wanted. Hell, I'd prefer a hung Parliament over that.
Clegg is obviously in denial or just remaining ignorant.
