Still not going to convince me to "upgrade".
windows 10 is definitely an upgrade compared to windows 8.1. I'd even say windows 7 is an upgrade
I Used windows 10 before and had NOTHING but issues with it. Never going back to it, even if you were to pay me a million dollars. I would call windows 10 a downgrade. Hell I'd rather use Windows 95 rather than use windows 10.
I upgraded my laptop from 8.1 to 10 and it's noticeably slower. Gonna try wiping it and doing a clean install but it's still enough to sour me from the experience.
Went from 8.1 Pro to 10 and have had nothing but...oh wait I haven't really had any problems, how about that. Seriously, shut up rehashing the same bullshit loads of other people spout out about Windows 10 being a piece of shit, it's not.
I upgraded to Windows 10 for some games that were only available on the Windows Store. It hasn't been unbearable, but my explorer.exe crashes often. That's about all I can complain about, but it doesn't really have any redeeming factors.
will it be exclusive to Universal Windows Platform?
Wouldn't surprise me if it was. It'd make a lot of sense to add it as a launch option just like running as admin and running in compatibility mode though. Especially if a game's installer could set the option by default or otherwise give an in-game option to activate it.
You can search back if you want to here my earlier issues with windows 10, but it hasn't gotten any better. I'm going to be stuck on the fast track forever because I can't just click a button and have it get me off of the fast track asap instead my choices are have it revert to earlier windows 10 (who knows how far back) or actively check my build number and compare to see if it is a stable build and then go back into my settings and click the magic button that supposedly appears. That's what I get for helping as a "windows insider". Recently my wifi under windows 10 has gone wonky. I ignored it for a month as I could just use my linux partition and I figured it was just enterprise wifi being screwy. After I booted windows 10 after that month wifi worked fine on my home network I had 4 days in a row on bootup windows 10 would fail to update. Then I thought I was in the clear and then after about a week the wifi went wonky again. To try to fix it I did the usual and then after I tried the full network settings reset and that didn't help at all either. It just fumbles around locking up my chrome when it tries to enable or disable. Meanwhile setting up enterprise wifi certificates on linux was semi-difficult, but my wifi has been reliable on both Debian and openSUSE. Eventually I'll add a windows 10 partition to my desktop for games as windows 7 won't cut it, but I'll put it off as long as possible because I've fought windows 10 more than any other OS. The easier it is to forget what OS I'm running the better.
Still not going to convince me to "upgrade".
If you're already on 8 then the only thing you're really missing out on is a few games, dx12, and better backwards compatibility. If anything I'd say go back down to 7 if you're really that much against 10 and want a less metro OS or anything like that. In fact, that's exactly what I did when Win10 wasn't cooperating with my laptop.

sucks to hear that
I am not, I have tried windows 10 and had nothing but problems. I am speaking from personal experience.
Did you upgrade or do a clean install? Because the former has been known to cause issues
Did you upgrade or do a clean install? Because the former has been known to cause issues
Both. And still didn't run correctly no matter what I tried. I just eventually went back to 8.1 and installed classic shell. Runs just fine with that.

In place upgrades have their own inherent issues. This computer im using (my work pc) was an inplace upgrade. Since that upgrade, it has seen 3 complete hardware changes and never had 1 issue with it. I've been thinking about updating my home pc to 10, but awaiting to get off the aging 1090T before I do so. I think everyones hate towards W10 is just the bad experiences have been repeated so many times it scares people off. People saying that its spying on you, are people who think that people care on what they're doing. When the fact is no one cares. What is an individuals data worth anyways these days? 10 cents?
Still not going to convince me to "upgrade".
Why does every thread related to Win 10 have to have that one guy posting just to go "Hey, everyone look at me, I don't use Win 10! Pay attention to me!" as if anyone cares.

That's like saying there's no issue with the NSA's PRISM program because you're not the kind of person whose information they're hunting for. The point is it's an invasion of privacy that can (and has in the case of PRISM) be abused.
I had no real choice but to upgrade to 10 from 7 with my new computer I got. All things considered, it's not perfect and I wasn't a fan of the anniversary update, but i'm not really minding it besides small habitual quirks for folder browsing that just seem to be outright missing.
I did a dirty upgrade from 7 to 10 and it has been nothing but a pleasure. Faster, better performance, better stability. In any case, a game mode would be welcome. I've always wondered why this was never a thing that was built in. It seems reasonable.
