• Microsoft being sued over Surface space...
So it’s a bit odd that the 32GB Surface actually only turns up with 16GB of space, because Windows RT takes up half of it, but suing Microsoft? Really? Why don’t you just stick an SD in there and call it a day? What’s wrong with you? A lawyer, from California, took offence to the fact that he quickly filled up his 32GB Surface because of the limited space. Despite Microsoft actually stating the free space in the fine print on its site, Andrew Sokolowski insists that he’s been swindled, and not only wants Microsoft to change its adverts, but damages as well. Oh, what a litigation-happy world we live in. This is yet another reason why we can’t have nice things.
SOURCE: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/11/microsoft-is-being-sued-over-the-space-or-lack-thereof-on-the-surface-rt/ Oh, what a wonderful day for Microsoft!
America, where you sue people because you never learned how to read.
America, where you sue people because you never learned how to read.
Once I saw some guy whining about how he didn't know he was meant to buy a disked copy of an MMO (he was buying online, said he didn't see the giant sign saying you needed the disk to play :v:)before buying a subscription because he thought it was the same as Club Penguin :v:
Actually I'm ok with this, you shouldn't brand a product 32gb when it is in fact 16gb and mention it at the rear of the box, that'd be alright if it was 30 or 28 instead of 32, but 16 is overkill.

It's like buying a pre-built PC, it might say 500 GB but when you first use it 20 GB are gone because Windows took it up. Doesn't mean the space isn't there, it's just already occupied.

I hate that word, "damages". It's basically just an incentive to sue people 90% of the time. What was the "damage"? Buying and shipping the thing? The time "wasted" filling it with 16 GB of data? I really don't see the issue here. 32gb is obviously not the free space but the total available space. Anyone with half a brain should realize that.
I still think they should market the product by their usable space. What is the point of listing it as 32GB if the average user cannot access more than 16? Its really scummy.
I really don't see the issue here. 32gb is obviously not the free space but the total available space. Anyone with half a brain should realize that.
Anyone with basic knowledge of computers would know this, unfortunately not many people have that.
Anyone with basic knowledge of computers would know this, unfortunately not many people have that.
Which is why companies put disclaimers stating that total space does not mean available space, meaning this whole thing is really a non-issue and this guy probably won't achieve anything with this.
Anyone with basic knowledge of computers would know this, unfortunately not many people have that.
It seems like basic common sense to me, really.
i don't remember windows being 16 gigs, especially on a tablet

i don't remember windows being 16 gigs, especially on a tablet
A stock install of windows has been about 16GB since Vista came out. However, if you disable system restore, hibernation, and the page file, you can get it down to about 10GB.
I wonder if the prosecution will sink or float in this case of Surface tension. Hope Microsoft has a cohesive defense, and the liquidity to deal with it if they lose.

Getting fatter and fatter for no good reason.
The one thing everyone should be taught is read the fine print before even signing or buying a product, no matter what. Not hard people
I hope they also sue Nintendo.
The one thing everyone should be taught is read the fine print before even signing or buying a product, no matter what.
I would prefer companies being honest with their advertisements and product specifications. But that's just me and my common sense.
The specification is completely honest and this has been a thing since the first PC was sold or so
America, where you sue people because you never learned how to read.
It's why Airlines peanut bags say "OPEN BAG EAT NUTS" Because someone WOULD sue
The specification is completely honest and this has been a thing since the first PC was sold or so
Even back then they were misleading. Like stating that a kilobyte consists of 1000 bytes, instead of 1024 bytes like it really does. It's not even HARD for Microsoft to write the ACTUAL usable space on the package. It just makes their product look better if they write the total capacity, and then the usable space in small text you'd need a microscope to read.

microsoft stop trying to be the new apple you never will be ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
what kind of face is th.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
microsoft requires all surface RT manufacturers to indicate on the box how much space is usable... it says so on the surface and the asus vivo boxes [editline]19th November 2012[/editline]
what kind of face is th.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
its 4chan's new meme
