This is the only use for RussiaToday, getting to see all those military vehicles.
A pretty interesting parade, watched a few on youtube.
Shame that the whole event will be overshadowed overshadowed by Putins latest "political" moves...
[SP]Like secretly invading Ukraine for example.[/SP]

Secret implies nobody knew of it or noticed.
I wouldn't mind any of those female snipers taking me out. :v:
seems at least partially like an intimidation move

Not really, they do it every year, and it's pretty cool seeing tanks roll about and everything looking perfectly uniform or your off to the gulag if you disgrace mother Russia by marching out of line soldier!
Dumb jingoism
Nice to keep a tradition going I guess, I've seen a few of these marches and they're actually pretty cool.
I can't wait to watch the show, obligatory
Dumb jingoism
Not exactly dumb. The Russians love it
The Russians love it
Exactly
No matter what do you think about Russia, Putin, Ukraine, US, Europe... you should really watch it.
It's beautiful.
I hope that future governments after Putin (if they will ever be) will keep this tradition.
Exactly
But I like dota 2
It's a really awesome event, definitely worth watching
Dumb jingoism
This is meant to commemorate the victory, and all those who have gave their lives for their country.
These marches are one of the few good things left of modern Russia. They tend to unify the country more or less, and bring back its nostalgic sense of pride.

Our Ears: "In honour of our patriots and countrymen, who gave their lives in the defense and counterattack against the Nazi threat during WW2"
Your Ears: "waaah to war by jingo"

That's the problem.

Why do you need massive military parades to honor the fallen? Are all the nations that don't hold military parades disgracing their veterans?

That's about as fallacious as assuming these parades are dumb and jingoistic.
In other words, no.

Different cultures/Countries celebrate their veterans in different ways.
That's the problem.
Prob--bwhah, what? Problem? Are you serious?
I somehow don't see why an attempt to unite everyone for at least one day is a bad thing.
It's an ongoing tradition which many take pride in, and not only Russians.
Exactly
Soooo, all Russians who watch the V-day parade are dumb?

When your country loses 8.7 million soldiers and roughly 17 million civilians after being invaded and then pushing against the Nazis, I personally feel that it's okay to let them have their parade.

Because that's how they honor their veterans? What's wrong with it? Why are you like this on every SH article.
Any new military hardware going to be unveiled or is it going to be a surprise like the MiG-25?
Parade has just started
