Now it's the 99p cafe: Budget chain takes on Starbucks with coffee and croissants for less than £1
The company opened its 250th outlet this week and it will – for the first time – be offering hot drinks, pastries, sausage rolls, croissants, pasties and sandwiches.

It's not that bad. Most supermarkets do a pack of 2 Belgian buns and the like for about £1-1.25, and Nescafe is really popular and shit tasting as well, so that'll keep costs down.
a quid bakery? what brands of tea might they have?
At grocery stores here, you can get a dozen donuts for 5 bucks. I wonder what kind of deals they have at these bakeries, because a pound a donut is pretty pricy.
I still think they have a long way to go to get the prices down, Starbucks opened up a shop here in Northampton recently, nearly all the supermarkets here now have a cafe set up and some even offer tea/coffee for free whilst you shop.
Might try it out but not for the bakery where I can think of a handful of places that sell that stuff cheaper or more plentiful. 99p just isn't that great of a price imo.
Eh, can't you get an average sized coffee for 1$ at McDonald's now? I don't have a lot of faith in 99p/1$ store baked goods not ripping my insides out, either.
I saw one of these tankers at a local gas station, ad says "69¢ any size soft drink"

I told the clerk "I'll take eight" and pointed to the truck
99p store sells things for 99p more at 11
lidl sells this shit for like 40p. these cats are getting ripped off thinking they're getting a bargain
Sometimes after a hard day buying brand deodorant, stationary and shower gel at budget price, you end up jonesin' for a coffee.
Good on them, hope it works out well.
somebody get ashens on this

U FUCKING WOT MAYT.
Any 2 pies, pastrys or sausages rolls for a quid, its wonderful. I'm poor and live off that place, even if it is rat, rat tastes greasy and good
More goodies for Ashens to tear into :v:
Looks terrible.
I want one.

$5 is pretty expensive tbh. Eg here you can get around six donuts for $2.

Amen sir, the pastries there are pretty cheap and aren't half bad from my recollection of things. Don't have a Lidl in my village, but Wallington does and it's not too far to travel.

And most non supermarket places, a loaf of bread is 79c where I live. Most other things are around a dollar.

Wow you all pay a lot for things!

six donuts for $2 makes a dozen of them cost $4, is the $1 difference a major factor?

So apparently Thorntons is a gas business in Kentucky... As an Englishman this confuses me, since over here we have a company called Thorntons which makes and sells chocolate.

Considering how awesome British chocolate is in comparison to the stuff you guys get, I wouldn't blame you.
six donuts for $2 makes a dozen of them cost $4, is the $1 difference a major factor?
That's a 20% difference. And there would be bigger savings if I bought a dozen of them in one pack.
There's a family bakery just down the road from my office, at £1.20 for a steak bake I'd rather go there.
The pastry isn't greasy as hell like Greggs.
Gregg's steak bakes are the fucking tits, their meaty and gravy centre makes my legs quiver at the thought of it.
Lidl has a bakery bit. Hopefully the quality is on par with them, if not better
Where I study, there are vending machines in the labs that sell cups of hot beverages for like 25p. It's not the greatest thing but it's 25p. Being a student is great.
I only really like coffee when I make it myself, and I only really buy hot drinks as a social thing and not because I need one and feel like dishing out the dosh.

"Youtube personality found dead after ingesting £20 worth of poundland baked goods"
You can get donuts where I work for 65 cents, which is about 39p. Shit's awesome.
