Hi folks! I recently got my hands on an SSD for cheap! I'm going to be replacing it into my laptop for uber fass' speeds!
Heres what I have.
1TB 5400RPM SATA drive (in laptop currently)
240GB SSD Corsair something or other
2.5" HDD enclosure (USB 3, thank the gods)
How does one go about "cloning" or "Imagining" the drive?
The tech at the store told me to turn on AHCI in the bios, and disable IDE (which I don't think applies to me, the laptop is brand spanking new (about 2 weeks)
He also told me to disable Hibernate or anything that would power down the drive. He said that it would wear and tear the drive like crazy if I did. How do I go about doing that on Windows 7 (first laptop I've ever had, so I dunno anything about power management etc)
I already have the SSD in the enclosure, and it isn't recognized by the computer, so I went into disk management and it asked how I wanted to initialize the HDD (either MBR or something to do with Itanium based systems) I guess I choose MBR?
This whole thing is really confusing, and since I've never really done it before, it's even more confusing.
If you guys can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks folks :D
SSD=HDD... I think you meant to say spinning disk to SSD.
Anywho, if I recall correctly cloning the drive should be the same process as always.

How does one "clone" though? I've read so many guides/tips/help stuffs, and I'm not too sure what to go with or what guide to choose or anything of the sort.
I assumed HDD meant hard disk drive, excuse my illiterate-ness

You can get imaging devices.
I figured as much, faze. Can you maybe recommend me a program? There's so many out there!
