As he spoke about the "beautiful" wall that he wants to build along the southern U.S. border, Trump reiterated his earlier claim that Mexico will pay for the wall. The wall was a flash-point this afternoon since Trump said in his Mexico City press conference today that he and Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto "didn't discuss" the payment plan. Later, the Mexican president tweeted that he made it clear during their closed-door meeting that Mexico will not be paying for the wall. Yet in tonight's speech, Trump was confident that he would come around. "Mexico will pay for the wall. Believe me. A hundred percent. They don't know it yet, but they're going to pay for the wall," Trump said. ... Trump talked about the controversial deportation force that he plans to create, saying that the first priority would be removing criminals. In explaining the targets, he took a shot at Clinton. "Within [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], I am going to create a new special deportation task force focused on identifying and quickly removing the dangerous criminal illegal immigrants in America who have evaded justice, just like Hillary Clinton has evaded justice, okay? Maybe they'll be able to deport her," he said. ... Trump addressed several other immigration-related policies that he has previously mentioned during the campaign, including "extreme" vetting practices and a list of countries whose citizens are banned from receiving U.S. visas. In some areas, he gave more details about policies he has teased on the trail. For instance, he has previously talked about his plan for ideological tests for immigration applicants, but tonight he listed off some of the issues they will be asked about. "Applicants will be asked for their views about honor killings, about respect for women and gays and minorities, attitudes on radical Islam," Trump said tonight.

Number One: We will build a wall along the Southern Border. Number Two: End Catch-And-Release Number Three: Zero tolerance for criminal aliens. Number Four: Block Funding For Sanctuary Cities Number Five: Cancel Unconstitutional Executive Orders & Enforce All Immigration Laws Number Six: We Are Going To Suspend The Issuance Of Visas To Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur Number Seven: We will ensure that other countries take their people back when we order them deported Number Eight: We will finally complete the biometric entry-exit visa tracking system.
"They don't know it yet, but they're going to pay for the wall," Trump said.
Cryptic. [editline]s[/editline] Wow, this was a surprisingly solid speech by Trump's standards. [editline]s[/editline]
"So, Muhammad, do you think honor killings are acceptable?" "No." "Alright, he's good, let him in." Bulletproof. The 9/11 hijackers were specifically chosen because they had strong knowledge of Western culture and spoke fluent English. They were trained pilots. They'd pass this "ideological test" as easily as a Mexican immigrant would climb over a big concrete wall.
"Applicants will be asked for their views about honor killings, about respect for women and gays and minorities, attitudes on radical Islam," Trump said tonight.
The majority of his supporters would fail his fucking test.
so much for a pivot
The majority of his supporters would fail his fucking test.
Skip to like 1:20ish. Half these people wouldn't be allowed to immigrate under Trump's rules. Amazing.
If Trump becomes president I don't think Mexico will pay for the wall, however, I think it will still happen.
The majority of his supporters would fail his fucking test.
That's a rather blanket statement don't you think?
That's a rather blanket statement don't you think?
Are you serious? This is the guy who doesn't respect the LGBT community at all, and has even degraded them. Do you think his fanbase actually gives two shits about the LGBT community because I've never felt anything but pure hatred and nonacceptance towards the LGBT community.
That's a rather blanket statement don't you think?
as blanket as saying the confederate army was pro-slavery [editline]31st August 2016[/editline] but you're the guy who was praising trump for being so "clever" to use scaremongering tactics, so i'm not sure why to bother arguing
as blanket as saying the confederate army was pro-slavery [editline]31st August 2016[/editline] but you're the guy who was praising trump for being so "clever" to use scaremongering tactics, so i'm not sure why to bother arguing
I don't know what specifically you are referring to with something I said, but he's doing a great job campaigning in my view. I thought this speech was delivered extremely well; he reaffirmed his positions on the wall and deporting illegal immigrants. His bold propositions garner attention to his campaign, but more importantly they have a real chance of changing our immigration system for the better.
watching this live broadcast is scary and not even comedic anymore this is some real brawndo shit
Trump addressed several other immigration-related policies that he has previously mentioned during the campaign, including "extreme" vetting practices and a list of countries whose citizens are banned from receiving U.S. visas.
Remember, he claimed that travel will be suspended from countries such as France and Germany until extreme vetting procedures will be introduced, so imagine the scale we're talking about here.
"Applicants will be asked for their views about honor killings, about respect for women and gays and minorities, attitudes on radical Islam," Trump said tonight.
Haha, it's pretty blatant from the get-go with the stereotypical views a fundamentalist muslim is supposed to have, but then he straight up mentions Islam. How about you ask about what immigrants think about the causes of the civil war? How about you ask them what they think about Hitler or Stalin? Maybe check what their views are on separatism, co-existence of Catholics and Protestants, whether the state should have monopoly in the use of violence, etc. Surely you wouldn't want those kind of extremists entering the US either, and if the vetting is even remotely thorough or complete, you'll ask these kinds of questions too. Anyhow, I'd love to see how this vetting is gonna be conducted. Reality trumps satire yet again.
quickly removing the dangerous criminal illegal immigrants in America who have evaded justice, just like Hillary Clinton has evaded justice, okay? Maybe they'll be able to deport her," he said.
First case of a pre-emptive sore loser I've ever seen. [editline]1st September 2016[/editline]
I thought this speech was delivered extremely well; he reaffirmed his positions on the wall and deporting illegal immigrants.
Which appeases his core voter base which is what, 30-40% of voters? He's extremely unfavourable, even within his own party, and he seems to be working really hard to hold to the percentage of the population that is currently setting him up to lose pretty badly. He is making no solid effort to convince Republicans that are on the fence, or those that are hemorrhaging towards the Libertarians, he is not appealing to dissatisfied Democrats or socially conservative Democrat-voting demographic groups. Meanwhile, his message is garbled nonsense, as day by day he's shifting from one position to another.
they have a real chance of changing our immigration system for the better.
I might have disagreed with your positions in the past, but at least I understood why you would not vote for the Democrats and respected your stance on things such as nuclear energy. But you are being delusional if you are even slightly reassured or hopeful after the reveal of this kindergarten essay-level vetting system of his.
How the fuck is he going to deport "criminals who have evaded justice"? Are they going to deport people declared innocent?
Skip to like 1:20ish. Half these people wouldn't be allowed to immigrate under Trump's rules. Amazing.
i don't support trump or hillary or any of americas politics (im australian, after all) but please don't share videos like these as if they're some scathing, witty criticism. it's so easy to go to any event with tonnes of people and pick out the stupid ones.
Number Six: We Are Going To Suspend The Issuance Of Visas To Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur
Nice. If elected he's going to fuck over my family in Ukraine over because "MAGA!!!!! DURN IMMIGRANTS ARE ALL TURRISTS!! AMERICANS STRONG!" and wants to prevent them from ever getting a possible visa to get a better life. Trump can rot in hell honestly because he goes against the fundamental basic values of the United States. I cannot believe how many people in the United States betray the fundamental value that their country is build on the sweat, tears, and hardships of immigrants. I legitimately ask you RIPBILLYMAYS, how can you support someone who not only goes against fundamental, basic american values but is also a vile bigot?
"So, Muhammad, do you think honor killings are acceptable?" "No." "Alright, he's good, let him in." Just funny, since the central idea, that most Trump supporters wouldn't be able to pass his criteria, is true. But I need to prove that, so here goes. Pew, a very reputable polling agency, found that only 33% of self-identifying Republicans support gay marriage. In another poll, Pew found that 42% of American Muslims support LGBT marriage. That means that more self-identifying Muslims support gay marriage than Republicans do. [t]https://d1ai9qtk9p41kl.cloudfront.net/assets/mc/_external/2016_06/poll.png?h=768&w=418[/t] American Republicans are less supportive of gay marriage than American Muslims. Trump using "gay rights" as a criticism of Islam is just pathetic when his voting base is comprised of some of the most intolerant people of LGBT rights in this country.
You know. After seeing this list and how it directly impacts my family to intentionally fuck them over, I'm not going to risk taking a vote away from Clinton. I said I was going to vote Green Party before, but I'm not risking it. Clinton is infinitesimally better than Trump in every way, shape and form and she MUST win the election to prevent this hateful, spiteful, sociopathic bigot from getting any form of political power in the United States.

California? Trump cannot win, and you voting Green to better your conscience won't make any appreciable difference because there's zero chance Hillary won't win. Arizona? North Carolina? Florida? Missouri? Yeah, maybe put your conscience aside and vote to swing the state. If you're in a stronghold Dem state, vote whoever, your vote literally matters less than if you were in a swing state. Just pay more attention to down-ballot stuff and research who's running. I was going to vote in Minnesota, where I go to school, but I realized that I'm okay with pretty much all of the available running candidates in my district and they have solid leads in polls. So I'm getting an absentee ballot for Texas, my home state where I still have residency, because I'm convinced it's going to be a much tighter race than Minnesota will be and my vote will matter more there. Vote strategically. If you're in New York, vote whoever, it won't matter in the slightest.
It would be political suicide in Mexico for it's president to help build a wall on the US border as well as in the areas of the US with high Hispanic populations.

I respect Trump for shaking up the horrible American political system and calling out bullshit on both sides of the spectrum. I know from his real estate history that he is a visionary in seeing what things could be, and does not tolerate incompetence in his businesses. I don't entirely agree with all of his policies (reviving coal for one), however I believe Trump is what is needed right now. Clinton is more of the same corruption, inaction, and politics as usual, and I don't want that in my future. I don't know what your family's situation is like, but Trump's focus is on improving the United States for its citizens. America halted immigration in the past for various reasons, and we have let immigration come back after some time.
Label him as you like, it does not change my view of him. nor do i expect that to change, because you're brainwashed into this cult mentality that Trump will make america great again [somehow] I respect Trump for shaking up the horrible American political system and calling out bullshit on both sides of the spectrum. I know from his real estate history that he is a visionary A visionary to make america great again for only those he approves of (hint, its only white, conservative, christians)in seeing what things could be, and does not tolerate incompetence and he would be SO much better than what we have now, believe it or not our system does work and functions better than you'd like to think, for example the Supreme Court's ruling on Gay Marriage (something trump opposes and despises and has openly said he would actively try to repeal it in his businesses. I don't entirely agree with all of his policies (reviving coal for one), however I believe Trump is what is needed right nowif you honestly believe America needs to be made "great again", get a reality check because america IS great and WILL be great without Trump shitting up the place. WALL NOW!!. America halted immigration in the past for various reasons, and we have let immigration come back after some time oh so let's just shut ourselves from the rest of the world and give the bird to everyone who views america as the pinnacle of the west, where you can achieve great things and a better life.
It just looks like he has but really, he's made everything more blatant, more mockable, and he's created an atmosphere that just reeks of bullshit and arrogance in the entire political realm. Guess what? That's pretty much business as usual just with a clown instead of the typical straight man. If that's "shaken things up" enough for you, then okay pal. What has he done to alter policy in the US? Not even significantly as much as the Tea party movement did in terms of it's ideology because Trump has little expressed ideology, really it's just paranoia and fear and mockery that he's made his mantra over the last year of this horrendous joke. This is the guy who's only now falling into line with the campaign message, strangely just as Stephen Bannon takes over his campaign. Great, a media baron running with the king of branding. You really think this is what your nation needs? Looking at his businesses, yeah he's only had 4 bankruptcy claims which isn't so bad, but he's also under a great amount of lawsuits, he's going to court for fraud. He's had so many businesses pop up and drop off in ways that weren't bankruptcies that it's hard to ultimately count and satiate the appetite of the Trump poster who won't take anything less than utter detail when it comes to Trump but will suffice with just mere rumours when it comes to demeaning Clinton. I just don't get how you can be for the guy, it's fine that you are. I can't stop you, I'll talk about it all I want though. You even have issues with his policy because he's going to start up coal again. That's not likely to be a bluff dude. I have a boner for nuclear energy too, so it's not good on either candidates fronts but it's not going to happen under Trump nor Clinton. It's just not. But only one is vowing to go coal on the issue so you have to see there's a problem that you know to be more concerned about.
I know from his real estate history that he is a visionary
We all know true visionaries are sued multiple times by the Department of Justice for discriminating against black Americans by lying about housing availability. That's visionary real estate right there. The most visionary part was marking potential black customers with specific codes in order to guarantee that they'd be denied housing. Visionary!
I'm voting for Trump, let's build that fucking wall.
Putting words in my mouth
I'm glad you are respectful to my views. Here's a different spin on it since you seem to think Trump voters are evil: I'm a straight white male, why wouldn't I vote for Trump? If he only wants to MAGA for white conservative christians, well I would be included in that category right? You see America for what is, not what it could be. China in particular is developing amazing new infrastructure as their economy grows. I can't recall a major infrastructure project for the US past the National Highway Act, and on top of that our bridges keep falling apart. There's more examples like airports and city development (Detroit?), and Trump's entire history is building construction. I trust he will have great ideas to improve our dated infrastructure. America is an independent nation and we can flip the bird to anyone we want. This isn't the EU where your immigration is controlled by a committee in Belgium. America gets to decide whether or not to accept immigrants, refugees, or visitors, for whatever reason we see fit, because we can. I'd rather spend money on investing in our own interests for our own citizens rather than policing and protecting the world out of our own pocket.

I was born about a month after my parents came to the United States, and they worked their ASSES off for 18 years to provide for me, to make sure I got a good education, to make sure I stayed on track to carve a path for myself. That is the American dream to most immigrants. To see their children thrive in a country that isn't shit so they can provide for themselves and start their own families. But you. YOU and people like YOU want to absolutely crush that to "Make America Great Again" for your own selfish reasons. I despise you for wanting to deny that to the people who only want to better their children's futures. I despise your candidate for going against the basic core values of the United States. I despise your attitude toward immigrants and immigration in general.
