MOSCOW - Two Russian Su- 27 fighter jets collided during a training exercise Sunday killing one pilot, a media report said. “According to updated information, one of the three pilots was killed in the air disaster,” the Interfax news agency said quoting air force spokesman Vladimir Drik. Two SU-27 fighter jets from the aerobatic team, called Russian Knights, collided mid-air over the Ramenskoye airfield in southeastern Moscow while rehearsing for MAKS 2009 air show, to open Tuesday. The victim was the Russian Knights’ commander, the Interfax said. In an earlier report, it said that all three pilots were safe after they managed to eject to safety. A thick smoke engulfed the site after the collision. We saw two parachutes in the air after the collision,” RIA Novosti quoted a witness as saying. Five civilians were injured after the crash and have been hospitalised, it said citing a police spokesman. The cause of the collision was not immediately known. Meanwhile, officials from the defence ministry and air force have launched an investigation into the incident.
Source: http://blog.taragana.com/n/russian-su-27-fighter-jets-collide-one-killed-141134 Sorry for shady source, I just mainly wanted to post the photos of the incident One of the most dangerous places on earth... near Russian Airshows, last photo is of the explosion from the crash
What's with the last picture?
What's with the last picture?
Auto Focus on camera being a dick, like they usually are, and focusing on the foreground
I highly doubt that's a real picture of the incident.
I highly doubt that's a real picture of the incident.
Believe it
So it rear-ended the other one? Damn.
I highly doubt that's a real picture of the incident.
Why? You can see the debris and the crushed nose.
Good thing it wasn't nearly as bad as the one in Ukraine
Good thing it wasn't nearly as bad as the one in Ukraine
Yeah, that one was a mess, something like 80 dead
So it rear-ended the other one? Damn. Why? You can see the debris and the crushed nose.
I meant the last explosion. It looks so awfully photoshopped.
I meant the last explosion. It looks so awfully photoshopped.
Because the camera autofocus is a dick

Shitting hell, that's unlucky.
So, 3 Pilots total. 2 Used parachute and made it out OK and 1 died?
I think all three used parachutes, but one unlucky pilot's parachute failed.
I wish they would shut up about this. I've seen like 5 different news reports already :argh:
I meant the last explosion. It looks so awfully photoshopped.
If it were a photoshop, I'd congratulate the guy on a very realistic one. It's just the focus.
I bet the pilots had a blast.
Hah, the blast looks shopped. Looks nice in an artistic sense, but yeah airshows fffff
It looks like the third craft was burned the fuck up by the second jets exhaust.
So, 3 Pilots total. 2 Used parachute and made it out OK and 1 died?
that's what you get for flying in rubbish planes with rubbish ejection seats [editline]09:45PM[/editline] if those were f-22s, they would have just bounced off each other and everyone would still be alive
Auto Focus on camera being a dick, like they usually are, and focusing on the foreground
It kinda makes it look artistic, though. Like "hey look, some nice bushes" *unfocused explosion looming in the background*
Yea, the fireball does look photoshopped in from a painting. But i've never seen a fireball, so I'm not the one to judge.
The Russian Knights have a bit of big egos. I think the Sknyliv Airshow disaster was "pilot error" as well. If any of you are interested in that, here's a very graphic video filmed as it happened in 2002. Don't be an ass, SU-27's are perfectly fine jets.
Typical American Elitism. Don't be an ass, SU-27's are perfectly fine jets.
They're mediocre now, though. They're kind of like Hinds: they were badass when they came out, but now they're showing their age.
One of the most dangerous places on earth... near Russian Airshows.
Ukraine. 85 people, man. Gives me chills every time I see it. I recommend you don't watch the video.
85 people man
Airshow's are dangerous places.
