• HSBC Tax evasion
IN 2008 Hervé Falciani left Switzerland for France, armed with account information on more than 100,000 customers of the Geneva branch of HSBC, where he had worked as a systems engineer. Much of the data, stolen to expose alleged tax evasion, was this week made public in a co-ordinated splash by a group of media outlets, including the Guardian and the BBC. It is not the first leak of its kind, but it is among the biggest (see table). The haul, dating from 2005 to 2007, includes hundreds of embarrassing documents, from internal e-mails breezily discussing undeclared client funds to details of “bricks” of cash being handed over to account-holders. The owner of the Ivy restaurant in London withdrew SFr5m ($4m) in cash in a single day; his lawyer has said this involved no impropriety. The leak dents the image of the London-based bank and may give it a legal headache. It also shows Britain’s tax authority to be a laggard.
http://www.economist.com/news/britain/21643143-leaking-old-data-creates-fresh-problems-hsbc-hiding-sirs-black-cash
As far as I know some governments knew of the Falciani list but did nothing and now that the list has been made public they are all shouting and saying that they will persecute the tax evaders. The fucking HSBC bank knew that part of that money came from terrorists, drug lords or war moguls and they still accepted it. I hope that everybody who illegally had that money in there ends in the fucking jail along with all the bankers that allowed it.

Britain's Tax Authority is not a laggard, it's almost non-existent, large companies especially ones that operate in a multitude of different countries get away with murder when it comes to tax evasion.
Corruption at its finest, face it if we are ever gonna move forward as a society it won't be the way the world is governed in its current state, there's just too many people in power that don't care.
