Oh fuck yes. Seeds of Evil was great. Also the cheats in those games were the best things. If any of you ever get the chance to play Seeds of Evil, "bewaretheshadowofoblivionisathand" IIRC was the master cheat code that unlocked everything and it's just so much fun to fuck around and break the game with those cheats. I'd also add that those Turok games especially the 2nd one are very very fucking hard in general.
Oh god yes please. IMO Turok games started sucking after 2

I wonder if they'll do anything to bring back multiplayer on PC, I remember checking before gamespy died and it still had a few servers.
Awesome! I thought we'd never get new versions of these, considering the company owning Turok haven't really been making games, nevermind Turok games.
I thought they'd be rebuilding the game to get rid of the fog and awful fov but is seems like that's not happening (at least the fog part).
I thought they'd be rebuilding the game to get rid of the fog and awful fov but is seems like that's not happening (at least the fog part).
I don't think they'd be able to remove the fog without somehow changing the gameplay. I remember a lot of big areas in Turok 1 where the only thing hiding enemies was the fog, getting rid of that would let you shoot them out of their range
Quake 2 and Turok 2 were the first PC games I ever played. I jumped directly from Super Mario Bros. to Turok 2 and had no idea how to play it. Got stuck in the first area because I didn't know you had to blow up that barrel to make a path trough the wall. Also it required to travel back to previous levels and worlds and it was too much for me. Took me over a year to finally finish. Those were the days. Also the way you could blow up enemies limbs or head was crazy.
They've also been rather aggressive in enforcing their rights over the IP, killing off free fan projects that make those games available like System Shock Portable.
When did this happen? The dl links have been removed. Good thing I still have a copy of System Shock Portable. EDIT: Never mind, happened a week ago.
This is the sort of shit that needs remaking, not fucking GTA 5.
Seeds of Evil is fantastic. Hoping for Rage Wars and 3!
Seeds of Evil is fantastic. Hoping for Rage Wars and 3!
Those weren't on PC, unless Night Dive is willing to port them or recreate the engine.
Seeds of evil is playable on pc with some minor patching and launching it through a shortcut. but having an actually optimized and refined release of both of them will be fantastic. Dinosaur Hunter on pc doesn't even have freelooking iirc, so i'm looking forward to that especially. skinning in seeds of evil is very possible (shameless plug #cuttingroomfloor) and some people from the small t2 community that's still there managed to get cooperative play to work on pc very very loosely, but nothing really ever came of it. all in all hype as can goddamn be tbh
Oh my fucking god. This is some of the best video game-related news I've heard all year. Honestly I would love to see Rage Wars, 3, and Evolution ports as well, but 1 and 2 are still fantastic.
I'm so fucking hyped! Probably the best news I've heard all day.
Never had the chance to play them, I patiently wait.
I actually own turok 2 on the PC and just played it recently, along with turok 1 on N64, to see if they still held up. I can confirm 100% that turok 1 is still ridiculously fun. Turok 2 wasn't quiet as fun as I remembered, but the atmosphere is so good and the enemy+weapon design so awesome that I still had a blast. They're fucking masterpieces, but I wouldn't really bother with anything else that has the "turok" label on it. none of the others really impressed me as much as the first two. Also I love how almost every gun in turok 1 uses the same sound effect for when you pull it out, just pitched differently lol. also lmao at that bottom turok 1 pic in the article. The game never gets that ridiculous with enemies.
I don't think they'd be able to remove the fog without somehow changing the gameplay. I remember a lot of big areas in Turok 1 where the only thing hiding enemies was the fog, getting rid of that would let you shoot them out of their range
Fog really ruined Turok 1 for me when you have big mario64 keyhunts with limited ability to navigate. The fov is horrible, the fog is only a few feet in front of you, most areas look extremely similar, sometimes even symmetrical, and the map only seemed to work in a few areas which were so small that the map wasn't needed. And since the keys in those levels are required for you to advance, you'd have to spend a lot of time basically combing the level with a toothpick. Also don't get me started on the fucking platforming. [editline]26th August 2015[/editline] Which is a shame because the game's smooth, it looks good (except for the fucking fog), surprisingly well animated, and the gunplay's fun as hell (except for the bosses tbh those were just boring circle strafes.)
and the map only seemed to work in a few areas which were so small that the map wasn't needed.
??? I didn't have that bad a time with the map at all when I played through the game again recently. Shit helped me out a lot, in fact. I only remember it ceasing to work on a few occasions and im pretty sure that's because those were secret areas. But yes some of the maps are way too samey with their layouts, especially the catacombs. However, I didn't have any issue with the boss fights. I enjoyed them, especially the mantis fight. You couldn't just 'circle strafe' that one because he kept jumping on to walls or flying away. That fight was awesome. There was a few keys I had a fucking tough time with yeah, and that one spot in the game where you had to jump between a shit ton of pillars way up high was a fucking nightmare, but I still love the game anyways.
The platforming was terrible, you just had to run and jump diagonally cause it was one of those games where doing that made you go faster I agree that the level design was pretty bad, I can't think of any other games that give you so many amazing weapons though

[editline]27th August 2015[/editline] Perhaps I'll give it a go again. There must be something I'm missing. [editline]27th August 2015[/editline] Well apparently it's some bug with the pc version. So as long as that gets fixed then maybe I will end up getting this after all :v: [editline]27th August 2015[/editline]
Seeds of evil is playable on pc with some minor patching and launching it through a shortcut. but having an actually optimized and refined release of both of them will be fantastic. Although of course it has the map problem.
OMFG I can't wait, Still have Turok 1 I got with an old voodoo video card and turok 2 still sealed in it's bigbox for PC
Turok 2 always amazed me at the time on the N64 with the scale of certain levels. That damned lair of the blind ones was fucking massive. I never got a chance to play it on PC, but I would totally be interested.
Awesome! i remember playing a Demo of Turok at Wal-mart all those years ago!
Turok 2 has a special place in my heart. That was the first game I've ever played online. It was so weird at the time that there were real people playing with you on the same map. I still remember the tension I felt when I got my first kill. Fun times!
I can't wait to shoot little drones which burrow into the skulls of your enemies. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
This is the sort of shit that needs remaking, not fucking GTA 5.
What? GTA V was never remade....
What? GTA V was never remade....
Well, it was "remade" and re-released 2 times already; first for the new consoles then for the PC.
I loved this game on the N64, but damn, do those graphics look shitty now.
