Works better if you right click and do view image... Another thing to show how deep it is. I think it is amazing that we know more about outer space than we do about our own oceans... I mean what kind of mysteries are lost down there! I think it is so amazing! Anyone else think it is amazing? Anyone know how to make it easier readable on here?
Late, also: the one with a picture of a fish at the bottom is cooler. And yes, the ocean is huge.
Wow that is amazing. Is there a picture showing how deep the ocean is compared to the whole earth?
Sorry if it is late... I just think this kind of stuff is super cool! If it is late than all the people who didn't see it before can i see it now I guess. For above^ [img_thumb]http://serc.carleton.edu/images/eslabs/corals/ocean_depth_colorscale.jpg[/img_thumb] I don't know how accurate it is. Got it off google images.
No, I mean like a pie chart. So you could see how far down it is to the middle or the earth.

The Challenger Deep is about 6 miles deep. A pie chart like you describe would make the ocean look like a puddle.

Holy shit. I never knew that.
Holy shit. I never knew that.
Same, but if you think about it we as mere humans usually around 6 foot tall compared to 7,926.41 miles of earth and 6 miles of The Challenger Deep, it is pretty amazing that we have successfully flown into space and that is what infinite? We don't even know! and we can't even make it to the very bottom of a 6 mile deep hole under water...
I was expecting more, like the life that lives in the depths explained.

They bottomed out, spewed up a ton of dirt so they couldn't even observe anything. It was more of a "just to see if we could do it" dive anyways. That was the only time man has been that deep. We've done it a few more times but with unmanned subs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathyscaphe_Trieste Yet we still have no clue as to what's down there.

If we can put a man on the moon we should put a man 6 miles underwater...

But that's exactly why I want a Marine Biology degree...
We can easily make it down there but it would be a waste of money really, all that we'll see is life and rocks. Space is a much better topic to put money into.

Wrong thread comcastic?
Wrong thread comcastic?
Yes, to be somewhat relevant though, I'd go deeper than the Mariana trench in that ass.
Wrong thread comcastic?
Looks like a trench to me.
I've always been kind of freaked out as to what kind of things live down in the Challenger Deep. :ohdear:

Whoa cool
Im amazed that we always look up at the stars with astronomy while we don't know even 1% of the things below our feet.
