Ok so my current GPU (a GTX 295) is dying and I need a new one that will last me a while.
My current power supply is 1000 Watt, I might have to replace that as well so advice on a new PSU would be awesome aswell.
Other than that my specs are:
Intel Core i7-920 2.66GHz 8MB
6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 3 x 2048MB
X-58 Motherboard- Socket 1366
Windows 7 Ultimate
(if I missed anything please do mention it)
Almost forgot to mention: I live in Holland so if you link to any sites please make sure that they ship there... and that the shipping costs aren't insane.
So, anyone got an ideas?
GTX 560, GTX 570, 6950, 6970
should be in that pricerange
What brand is the PSU?
How does the GTX 570 compare to the GTX 295? Found a comparison site but I have practically no knowledge at all about video cards:

No idea to be honest, all I know is that it originates from an Alienware PC.
Bought it over from a friend who was selling it for practically nothing. Was pretty new too so why not?

I would get a new PSU, then. Get the GTX 570.
Any recommendation?
XFX, Seasonic, Antec, Enermax, Corsair are all good, get 500W if you're not planning on SLI, get a ~750W if you are.
And I just came to think about it, download Speccy and take a screenshot, I wanna see if you're motherboard can actually do CF/SLI.
Come to think of it I recently had my motherboard replaced because it was having some issues, but I assume you mean this?

This actually reminds me that I need to clean the inside of my PC again, it's probably a bit dusty by now.
Yup, but either way, it won't do SLI from what I can gather from Foxconns website, so an AMD card wouldn't be a bad chice. Look at the 6950, especially XFX (Double Lifetime Warrenty).
I've had bad experiences with AMD cards in the past, I don't know why but they just hate me for some reason.
Don't judge from personal experience, you've just been unlucky.
My advice is that if you want to go for CF later on, get ~700W PSU and a 6950. If you don't, get a GTX 570, and a ~500W.

You'll be able to use the AW one, but personally I wouldn't trust it, as it is, well, Alienware.

CF?
I'll look it over and discuss it with some people who know more about it than I do, thanks for the help though, I really appreciate it.
CF = Crossfire, AMD's counterpart to SLI.
I'd go with ATI Radeon 6950 , it performs pretty the same as the Nvidia 570 GTX but costs less. But if you like Nvidia cards more , get GTX 570.
The GTX 570 is more like a 6970, but well.
Which brand can I best get it from? Asus?

Cheapest, and a very good warranty.
I actually realized I still had a 20% off coupon for a hardware site, looked up the best version of the GTX 570 there and ordered it.
€70 off on a €350 card? Sounds like a deal to me. Wasn't looking for the cheapest possible version anyway.
Thanks for the help, everyone. :keke:
