Anyways, I got recommended a CPU that I can't use, so I found this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4779378&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE I think it can work with my motherboard :iiam: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01386897&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&product=3719122&lang=en Can anyone confirm, and how well would that cpu run for recording games/playing maxish settings with a geforce 9800 gtx+ (lol free graphics card, yay). Anyone know a better cpu for the same-ish price?
It's a socket 775 and so is your mobo so they'll fit. Well it's a dual core running at 3.06Ghz so It's alright I guess. It's probably worth overclocking it a bit if you really want to but it's probably going to have issues when it comes to playing games like ARMA 2 or GTA IV. Other than that, it looks to be a nice CPU.
Would I be able to run GTA IV at mid level settings? If not, could you recommend one better then this that can fit my motherboard?
GTA is a bit strange. You can get people with Q9650's who get worse performance in it than people with Q6600's. The one thing I'm certain about though is that you really do need a quad to have a chance of running GTA IV effectively. I'm currently using the Q9550 (incorrectly called the Q9505 in the link) and I've found it to be a brilliant CPU. It's a great overclocker (I've got mine at 3.5Ghz stable) and seeing as now i7's are flooding the markets, now's a good time to get one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5344783&CatId=2758 Slight issue is it's $100 more than the dual you suggested. There's also the Q9400 which I don't know much about but from looking at its specs, it looks to be an alright CPU. Its stock clock is 2.66 but you can probably overclock a bit. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4089664&CatId=2758 Price wise it's $50 more than the E7600 so it's not too much of a step up.
heres mine,(i love dell) http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/desktops/xpsdt_630/pd.aspx?refid=xpsdt_630&cs=22&s=dfh

You can build a computer using the same hardware as what you'd get in an XPS for only 60% of the price.
>.< this is all so confusing. I live in the UK and it's about 3am right now which means I'm probably about to go to sleep so I'll just answer any you send me once I wake up.

A story about dell: I once bought a graphics card back in the day where I didn't know much about computers. I had checked my dxdiag and had been told that the one I wanted to buy would work. So there I was, shiny new 7series Nvidia waiting to go so I could actually play some games. Open up my Dell to find 1/4 of the motherboard missing and the various slots I needed at the time nowhere to be seen. 4 months later after I scraped together enough money for a brand new PC I set fire to my Dell. I don't regret it.
still... shiny...

Their just doing what every other service does out there, they extort someones lack of knowledge about a particular thing and make them buy overpriced pieces of shit.
me and my mom know, whats a scam and whats not, she knows her way in and out of a computer, she was a freiken technician in the air force!, oh and we got a discount on it from where she works.
Take it to PC Building in Hardware and software and you won't get these idiots who think Dell is amazing.
