worst game can't be badass 0/10
There are worse bugs, I can't play for more than 5 mins without complete FPS death.
the idea of unlocking stat boosts to make the initial grind on a second character less painfully boring sounds awesome

You get 1%, then 0,7% then 0,5% boost to the attributes, and you get a random selection of attributes to pick each time, so you can't put it all into one thing if you wanted to. It's also an insignificantly small boost (Some gives you a cosmetic item at a certain tier as well though, which is kind of maybe nice?), making it almost more boring and grindy. It's like achievements for every little fucking thing you do, but then you get a small boost for it in-game as well. Theoretically it sounds nice, practically it's like being constantly nagged about everything you do whilst trying to lure you into grinding.

The diminishing returns are there to make it so that it's not TOO easy on you, it's just a nice little bonus for beating the challenges. EDIT: Oh, you edited your post a little. Well yeah you're just plain wrong now. Considering you complete challenges by naturally playing the game and trying to do all of them on one character is basically a futile effort after a while, you PROBABLY aren't supposd to grind them. If you have to ever grind at all while playing Borderlands (to an extent even including your gun loadout), something is wrong with your playstyle.
but i thought the whole point is you don't have to grind challenges at all i'm at badass rank ~400, and i haven't even looked at the challenges yet
I'm up to 3k-ish, and I've only looked out of curiosity and so I could figure out which give me skins. Otherwise these damn things pop up like every other kill, it's hilarious how little you'd need to grind.
There's a way to reset it on PC, just delete the profile.bin file in the saves folder, however that will reset your keys to 1.

It's always fun when you forget to spend your badass tokens, and then you spend 5 minutes adding shit to your character
